Arnold F Nothnagel's Online Review Report Card

Very nice and quiet Doctor, but went through two years of painful hell. Started traveling to Cleveland to Cleveland Clinic’s Cole Eye Institute. The care and treatment I received was the complete opposite of Nothnagel. I never experienced any pain or discomfort. Didn’t have to go through having Betadine or Iodine dumped in my eye. They had other ways of disinfecting my eye. Never left there in tears like I did leaving Nothnagel’s office.

I went to see Dr. Nothnagel and he told me I needed eye surgery. He was not empathetic and never talked with me but to his nurses I could not get any of my questions.answered. No options ever given I tried to call back about several concerns and not answer.in any timely manner including.letters needed and surgery is this.next.week Staff called.me and told me I was having needles in my eye to which I would never.agree to. Then I find out the back office staff did not know what.they were talking about half scaring me to.death. After her telling me she made a mistake I realized I was only a number and dollar sign to these.people and have moved my care somewhere else. Would never go to any office who treats me like a nobody like this office did I would rate lower but the DX I think was correct People who aren't the threating surgeon as this girl was had no business talking to any.patient. I don't trust this group at all. If Dr Nothnagel won't talk directly to patients and allows dumb staff that has no clue about patients than he should stop practicing and go fishing. I had my first visit with Dr. Nothnagel on Dec 12, 2019, Canton office and was quite pleased. Dr. Nothnagel explained in great detail everything that was happening inside my eyes. He explained what was going on currently with my PVD and what to look for in the future as far as symptoms. I felt relieved after our chat and have the utmost confidence in his advice. My appointment was at 1pm and there was only short wait time between tests. All staff was pleasant and friendly. Absolutely no problems, reasonable wait time.

I will never recommend him for the pure fact that he obviously thinks his patients time is worthless. The amount of time you will spend sitting in the waiting room(s) is absolutely uncalled for. Show up for a 230 appointment and do leave until around 5! Drive up to his partners in Cleveland, they understand the value of time.

I would never again go to him nor would I recommend him to anyone. I had a retinal tear in 2 places and he told me there was nothing to do but enjoy my life. If I had listened to him I could have gone blind had the retina completely detached . Fortunately I got a second opinion.

Kind, caring. Very thorough. Explains things well. Doesn’t rush.

Dr. Arnold Nothnagel

Dr Nothnagel is the best doctor I have encountered. I I have seen many doctors over the years Dr Nothnagel is my 'gold standard'. The first time I needed him for a detached retina he personally called me at the intermission of his daughters recital. After telling him my symptoms he told me to be in the office first thing in the morning. In 2005 he performed three retina surgeries on my eyes. He is "meticulous" about everything he does from start to finish. It is my belief that he is the instrument God used to preserve my eye site (20/20 now). Yes, I had appointments with extended wait times. I don't see it as overscheduling, I see it as his compassion , an inability to turn anyone away. In my opinion Dr Nothnagel is THE ABSOLUTE BEST! I will always be grateful to him and his staff for their care and professionalism . Mike R
