There has been a great improvement in scheduling and the helpfulness of the staff since my first appointment. I had a very good experience (2020) - have always liked Dr Kafalas as he seems thorough, patient, and caring. Like the support staff in the treatment center as well.

Had an original appointment for July 2nd but they called and said that his schedule changed and I needed to reschedule. Did so for 8th, then they had another issue with that so they had me reschedule yet another 2 additional times with the soonest appointment being nearly 2 months away. Don’t waste your time here.

While Dr. Kefalas seems to be a genuinely nice guy, I had a persistent issue with timely follow-up on testing results, as I often had to wait over 2 weeks to receive results which were made available to him much sooner. Only after multiple follow-ups would I receive responses. Additionally, I received an incorrect diagnosis of Celiac Disease which the process for arriving at was lazy and misguided. An inconclusive biopsy with "non-specific findings that could not entirely rule out celiac disease" and negative serology led to Dr. Kefalas diagnosing me with Celiac. I received a 2nd opinion from a GI doctor at a different hospital system and he was able to quickly rule out Celiac for me with a simple HLA-DQ Genotype blood test. Given the non-invasive nature of this test and weak, non-specific biopsy findings anchoring his diagnosis, I feel it was negligent to not order that blood test. He may be a good doctor otherwise, but I unfortunately do not trust his expertise as it relates to CD

Very knowledagle, caring, and compassionate about his patients. Takes his time to dicuss any concerns you may have. I call him my father of medicine. He loves what he does and it shows greatly! He's been my physician for 11 yrs but due to him no longer acccepting my insurance I was required to change doctor's.

Everytime he walks into the room to examine me, Dr. Kefalas' complete attention is on me. Answering any question I could possibly have. He describes things in details and doesn't allow me to walk out confused on any topic. He's an amazingly intelligent doctor and soooo incredibly personable. My absolute favorite doctor of all time!!!
