List of Dr. Victor Bello Md's Reviews
Dr. Bello is a very good doctor and did my cataract surgery. I would recomment him to all my frients.
He's a wonderful, caring doctor. I had catarat surgery and lazer surgery and he was excellent with no pain.
I had not been to Dr Bello's office in Willoughby Hills before today. My usual Ophthalmologist another MD in the same practice was out of the country. First off, the receptionist was as non welcoming as she could be. If she ever smiled it must have been decades ago. The Ophtho Tech, Leah was very nice, but it took 45 minutes to get into an exam room and another almost hour to see Dr Bello. He never introduced himself and was very gruff. Maybe retirement should be mandatory after 70. Perhaps his bedside manner was good at some time in his practice career but that must have been decades ago as well. Fifteen minutes tops of medical attention took two hours and most of it was supplied by the Ophtho tech. Completely unacceptable. Why is it so hard for people to do their job in a friendly manner?
Dr. Bello listened to me explain my eye problem. I am better now.
Dr Bello charged me for Diabetic Eye Exam billed as Refraction that I did NOT ask for. Incorrectly stated that it was covered by insurance. Turned out it was not and I found myself at the paying end. This charge multiplied by XX number of patients, well you get the picture. However not a word about managing my current chronic condition, a cataract. What kind & extent of damage. Not a word about wearing sunglasses in any weather and blue light blockers to prevent further damage.
Dr Bello charged me for the Diabetic Eye Exam under the disquise of performing Refraction Test. The REAL Refraction Test was never done but an Acuity Test was done instead and billed as Refraction. I did NOT ask for either one. Moreover, doctor incorrectly stated that everything to be done in this visit is covered by my insurance. Turned out it was not and I found myself at the paying end. Furthermore, not a word was said about managing my cataract, what kind of cataract I'm having or the extent of a damage. Not a word about wearing sunglasses and blue light blocking glasses; all this I had to learn about from the internet, Facebook, Amazon and whatnot. But not from the eye doctor who apparently is not interested in managing a chronic eye condition. This incident marked my last going to this doctor's office. NEVER AGAIN and do NOT recommend.
Dr Bello has billed me for a Diabetic Eye Exam that was covered by my insurance in full. Upon calling Billing, I was told that the extra charge was for a Refraction Test. As I never heard of it, went on looking on the net. And found out that this test uses a specialized equipment that WAS NOT used during my visit. Currently I'm in the process of disputing this bill. This marked my last visit to his office. NEVER AGAIN and don't recommend. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere.
During my diabetic eye exam that is free for diabetic patients, Dr Bello also performed a refraction test that isn't covered; I didn't need this test as I don't wear glasses. Dr Bello has failed to inform me about a procedure not covered by my insurance, so I was billed for the copay. I wish that Dr Bello cut down on singing & talking about non-related issues. I also wish that the staff rinsed my eyes following dilated eye exam, and offered a pair of disposable sunglasses. Am NOT coming back

Dr Bello has failed to inform me about a procedure not covered by my insurance, so I was billed for the copay. I wish that rather than talking about politics and other unrelated issues, Dr Bello would inform me about a procedure that wasn't covered and for which I have to pay out of pocket. I don't appreciate his bedside manners at all. Besides, doctor didn't give any explanations the upcoming elective surgery, other than "cut". I have been seeing Dr Bello for years, but this incident marked my last going there. Am not coming back and do not recommend this doctor.
Dr. Bello is the most thorough doctor I have found which is great because my daughter has a rare disorder that may affect her eyes. However, I find some of his office staff rude and not completely honest or helpful.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
