Dr Carothers saved my life 21 years ago, diagnosing a kidney problem when he examined my eyes
I was in the office for 2 hours and 15 minutes for a standard checkup. For 1 hour and 50 minutes of that time I was left alone waiting. Dr. Carothers was working several patients at a time. When I got home I saw that my prescription was illegible and called to clarify the numbers. The person on the phone could not tell me because Dr. Carothers chooses not to enter these numbers in their database. Unacceptable.
Not a pleasant experience scheduling appointment on the phone. Scheduler very uninterested and indifferent.
Found the problem with my eyes, when others failed. He solved my problem. Easy to talk to. Nice person.
I have been seeing Dr Carothers for over 20 years. Before that I had seem a number of other eye Dr. and none could come close to him.
I arrived five minutes early for my 3:45 PM appointment for a standard eye exam and updated prescription, and I was finally seen at 4:20 PM. A female tech did a pretty darn thorough job, and she was personable and friendly. I mentioned one unusual thing about my sight. She said she'd look into my pupils, but she never did. After sitting by myself for almost a half hour, the optometrist himself came in. I asked the optometrist about the issue I mentioned earlier, and he said briskly, "I wouldn't know what that was without looking in your pupils." Towards the end of our first encounter, he came at me with two sets of drops. He never told me what they were. I figured the first one was to dilate them, but then there was a second. He never explained he was going to give me drops or what they were. Another tech came in, and she gave me the same two sets of drops. He comes back in, never answers my question, and by this time, it is 6:30 PM! I'd been there two hours and 50 minutes!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
