Welcoming staff, very professional and informative of what they're doing and how treatment can help. Dr. Engle doesn't just brush you off and you're not another number to him.

I was concerned to see the bad reviews. Pleasantly surprised Dr.Engle was friendly, easy to talk to & professional, I would recommend him.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! This place is a joke. If you want any relief, you better grab a snickers.. bc it's gonna be awhile. Regardless if you have to get a whole new knee replacement or not.

My experience with Dr. Engle so far has been fine, however, I can’t say the same for the staff at Southwoods. I have been transferred so many times from one person to another that at this point I can’t even tell you if I have an appointment or what time it is. I would never recommend Southwoods to anyone for a procedure. I am sorry I didn’t do more research and go to Mercy Health.

I have found Dr. Engle to be very caring and compassionate. He goes into great detail with what is wrong with what is most likely causing your pain and his proposed remidial procedures. Forget those bad reviews. Any patient can have a bad experience with any doctor, especially when the cure doesn't work. He once told me the cause of pain in my shoulder but recommended another doctor with more experience in doing the procedure. In my experience with different pain doctors, Dr. Engle is the best in the Youngstown area.

Received a hip injection today for severe arthritis from Dr. Engle at Southwoods Pain and Spine Clinic. It was virtually pain free and took less than a minute. Dr Engle and the nurses were great and made me feel at ease. Now I’m wondering what took me so long to get to the doctor. As of tonight my pain level is close to zero.

I wish I could leave zero stars. Dr. Engle's office requested an approval for my 1st epidural injection. My insurance approved not just the 1st, but also a 2nd injection. That was missed by Dr. Engle's staff. Instead they told me they would have to put through a 2nd request to get a 2nd injection. Upon calling my insurance I learned that they NEVER put through the 2nd request and the 1st approval for a 2nd injection had just expired. What a bunch of incompetence!!!!

This doctor has terrible bedside manners and just plain rude. Because I questioned him, he said I should probably find another doctor. Wow! Will never go back to him!

After trigger point injections given by Dr. Engle, I experienced severe pain in my back and subsequently ended up in the ER about a week later. I began having symptoms (numbness in my hip and foot) within the hour after receiving the injection from Dr. Engle. It should be noted that I had no adverse effects with the previous shots that were administered by Dr. McGrath (also with All Points Physical Therapy). I saw Dr. Engle later that week only because Dr. Yarab, whom I normally see was not in. I explained to him what happened and with no explanation, he dismissed my concerns. I advised him the ER physician suggested an MRI to determine the cause of the pain and he said he would not order one for me because he said “you just had one”; which, in fact had been a year and a half ago. He refused to schedule the follow-up treatment that was recommended by the physician in the hospital. He proceeded to explain alternate procedures, including a different kind of injection to relieve the pain, but given his bedside manner and the problems I encountered after the last injections he performed, I would never allow him to administer any further treatment. He mentioned several other treatments with medication that could be an option. When I asked about being able to research the possible drugs he wanted me to try, he replied , “we are not running a buffet here where you can just go home and research medications and call in and say, hey I want to try this or that, I will recommend what you should take”. I told him I understood that, and that was not my intention. I only wanted to research the options he had mentioned. I find it truly disheartening that any doctor would treat patients in such a manner. I noticed another comment from someone who had a similar experience with him so perhaps this is how he treats all patients, or maybe just females. Dr. Engle has a complete lack of empathy and concern for the patient. When someone comes to a pain clinic, they obviously are searching for ways to alleviate their pain and to be treated in such a way is completely unacceptable. Dr. Engle is a discredit to All Points Physical Therapy and the work they are supposed to be doing there to help people who are suffering with pain. I would never recommend him to anyone who has any health issues and actually wants to be helped. One last, even more disturbing note. Upon seeing another pain doctor, she retrieved my records and informed me that my report showed that I received a nerve block in my spine with contrast along with the trigger point injections. I made it specifically clear to all doctors involved that I did NOT want this procedure due to the risk of paralysis and what I was supposed to have done was trigger point injections. So, at this point I don’t even know what they really did. My new doctor stated that perhaps they just wrote it that way in order to be able to bill my insurance for contrast and use of x-ray because she said she could do trigger point injections in her office, no x-ray needed for this type of procedure. So PLEASE think twice before choosing Dr. Engle as your physician.

I am a 73 year old woman and I have suffered for four years with terrible chronic back pain. I have been to many doctors here and in New England and Cleveland Clinic. This doctor treated me kindly and with compassion and tried all that he could do. He really wanted to help me but sadly no one can really figure out which of my three conditions causr the excruciating pain. I felt very sad when he discharged me and told me to go to the Cleveland Clinic psin center which I did. She could not help me eithet and so I suffer every day even on meds. I highly recommend Dr. Engle because he will treat you with compassion and will try everything he can.
