Ritha Kartan's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Kartan is very caring. Listens well to patients. Gives good feedback. The staff is fantastic. I would highly recommend her to anyone with sleep apnea.

Unfortunately I only seen her once and will take my business elsewhere. Rude as heck. Berated me a few times during the 10 minutes I did see her. The nurse practitioner was great but as that is a one time visit with the nurse I won’t come back. I tried resolving my issues with a medical company that supplied my CPAP (they refused to work with me due to insurance denying payment) and both Kartan and my previous Pulminologist won’t help me. Hopefully the next one will.

Did not have an experience with this place it’s self... But more specifically Dr. Kartan. She was absolutely the worst doctor I have EVER come in contact with! I cannot believe what terrible bedside manner she had dealing with my mother (the patient) and her family. My mom went into TMH on Tuesday with severe pain in her side and back. It was first diagnosed as pneumonia. They started her on antibiotics and she was admitted that night. Some of the doctors she saw didn’t think it was pneumonia bc she didn’t have any other symptoms. She seemed to be getting better at first. Fast forward a day or two, she went downhill very quickly. This doctor came in and saw my mother in agonizing pain, and had the nerve to tell my father that there was nothing she could do, she didn’t know what it was, and maybe we needed to see a psychiatrist. They discontinued the antibiotics and had no game plan after that. After my dad asked her what we need to do, she told him we could give her more pain meds and she would stop breathing. What kind of person says that to a patients loved ones?! Dr Kartan shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the room. I have never seen anyone in this much pain. She stood up for 30 hours and was getting pain meds every 3 hours. She couldn’t breathe and her legs were rock hard and swollen. Needless to say we transferred to UPMC in Pittsburgh. This was by far the best choice we could have ever made for her. Within 10 hours of being at UPMC they had done multiple tests and she was able to lay down!!!! The very next day she was diagnosed with pneumonia and a collapsed lung. Im not sure how that could have been missed. For someone with 17 +\- years of experience, I would think she could have had something else say. A collapsed lung is not that uncommon and for a “lung specialist”, how could you miss something like that?! In my opinion, not a very good doctor. I would never recommend her to anyone, ever! The sad thing about this is, she’s teaching other people. Absolutely Terrible.

A very good doctor. The office staff is kind and helpful. I and my wife have had the best sleep since being under Dr. Kartan's care.

Terrible office people, rude, no people skills, looooong wait on phones.
