He has put my mom on antibiotics for a year. That's unhealthy. None of her symptoms seem to go away and she feels that he just doesn't care or pay attention. Nothing seems to be working with this doctor. 0/5 for not doing his job.

I highly recommend Dr. Ochs

Above and beyond everything else, I felt like like I was having a cup of coffee and sharing my troubles with a trusted friend.

My rating of this doctor is somewhere incompetence and malpractice. I was initially referred due to a high PSA score. Ochs ended up doing a prostatectomy. He used to be a Navy doctor, and having had experience with military doctors, I can believe it. He is just one red flag after another, He may pretend to listen when you see him in person, but you'll find it all goes in one ear and out the other. He ignored a message I left for him about a possible drug interaction prior to my biopsy. Despite having to'd him twice that another specialist I am seeing has cautioned me not to take ibuprofen, he told me to take ibuprofen for post surgical pain. The after effects of surgery were intensely painful for at least a week afterwards, but he would only prescribe a few days worth of pain meds. When I called his office about getting more pain meds, he had an office assistant call me back & tell me to take ibuprofen! He gave me no instructions about what to expect post surgery. I had educate myself via the internet. At a follow up office visit a few weeks later, I met with an NP. I pointed out what appeared to be a marble sized hernia beneath the incision site just above my navel. She left the room to advise the doctor, who apparently did not deem it important. She returned to tell me he said to just "take it easy" for a few more weeks. Within a few more weeks, the hernia had grown to golf ball size. I contacted his office several times about this with no response, then I finally got a call telling me to call their front desk and make an appointment. They had no idea how soon I could be seen. Unwilling to wait any longer and with the hernia approaching baseball size, I finally went to the ER where I was diagnosed with an incisional ventral wall hernia and, thank goodness, was referred to a different doctor for hernia repair. A word of caution if you see this doctor. The legal term is "caveat emptor" - let the buyer beware. Take due notice hereof and govern yourself accordingly!

He knows his stuff

Dr Ochs has been very kind and understanding regarding my cancer and follow up. He was my fathers doctor and remembered my dad even though dad passed away years ago. I knew for sure because he sighted specific details about my father. Dr Ochs has performed 2 surgeries regarding my cancer and I was able to call him after the first because I was having problems. He returned my call promptly even though it was late in the evening. When he had to tell me I have cancer he was soft spoken but direct and I appreciated that. I don’t like doctors that himhaw around, I just want to know exactly what’s going on and what steps to take and he did that.

He treated my dying father extremely disrespectful with zero empathy or patience towards him. Dr. Ochs was arrogant, short tempered, and had zero bedside manner. He was not at all interested in talking and explaining treatment options with my father. He was forceful and stubborn in his approach and left the room like an angry child who didn't get his way. I would never recommend this provider to anyone.

I was 10-15 late for an appointment. My drive is 45- 1 hour. They tell me I have to reschedule. Staff was rude. Staff appeared to consult Dr. Ochs and told me I had to reschedule for another day. My regular doctor knew more about my symptoms.

Dr Ochs (like the word: OAKS); is a very good listener. He does not judge other doctors; nor their work. He is there for you w/ HIS expertise, only. He listens well (w/what time he has) to your concerns. The ONLY con is: Just as w/ ALL Specialists; the BOOKING OF PATIENTS are entirely too close. Let the patient feel they can don’t have to rush all of their issues that concern them in an intense way , & in such a fast manner, or the great doctor/ patient relationship may get lost. (Always wondering when HE’LL STAND UP, & then that is YOUR CLUE that he must get to his next patient, & so he goes, walking to that door.....that dreaded door). Leaving you sometimes feeling: “DID I JUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT “? If I have to rate all doctors and repeatedly just tell them to TAKE THAT EXTRA TIME; & just charge the (insurance more for EXTRA TIME) w/ a patient. When a physician stands FIRST, w/out even asking if: “Is there is anything else on your mind w/ your health before our visit is over”, it almost feels (rude). Why did you have me sign all the papers to gets my blood reports from other physicians if you were not going to tell me ANYTHING{such as}: ”I looked at all the blood work, & by what I can see, w/ what I work w/ with my patients, I’m a little concerned with THIS or THAT (ELEVATION or DECLINE), that perhaps we should watch it closer. OR to hear: ” By the blood results that I received from your your other physician’s, in correlation w/ what I do, everything that I see w/ what I DEAL WITH; it all looks fine”. But to hear NOTHING? I (fear a fear that I cannot explain); that you would never understand, & a little comfort of at least hearing SOMETHING would have eased me before another year goes by. So, take time. That is what I must give as a GREAT POINT to ALL patients. It not only puts them at SUCH EASE; you would get recommendations out the roof. Some patients are just more delicate about their health. (More than you know). Knowing that when it is now YOUR TURN, you will not feel rushed on YOUR VISIT (as well)—by just adding a mere 5 extra minutes to each patient. What you will find out, is that it will EVEN OUT. Some patients, take no time at all w/ their visits. On the other hand, others NEED & APPRECIATE. (QUALITY TIME) w/ a great doctor is such an easy remedy—— (from a patients point of view).

Had visit to remove cathedra and doctor did not show up was seen by nurse who failed to perform scheduled removal. Sat 45 min in room only to speak w nurse and sent home. Frustrated and. Upset.
