Great doctor, wonderful experiance!
I absolutely love Dr. McGowan and her staff. I have been going to her for a few years now and I have been treated just like family. Dr. McGowan always takes her time, hears my concerns and helps as needed. I really appreciate her.
Fairfield Medical Group as a whole has been a joke to work with, but this office was my entry point with them. I was establishing a GP for the first time in 6+ years, came here because of convenience to where I work. Don’t try to contact the office staff because they won’t get back to you. Needed a titer done for the first time ever, scheduled an appointment and told them it’s what I needed, only to show up and for the doctor & nurses to be surprised I was there, because they don’t do titers at the office. I had to go down to the lab in Lancaster, which is fine, but at this point I was on a time crunch. The doctor forgot to send the order down, and was unreachable. She seemed largely disinterested in providing me care, anyways. After sitting for an hour, I was sent home and told to come back another day when they could get ahold of her. EDIT: I went to get the results of the titer (a year later at this point) and my employer ONLY accepted them because it was an RN who was reading them, and knew what it meant. Otherwise she said there’s nothing in the report that indicates what the results are, who the doctor was, or anything about where it was performed.
We had appointments which took MONTHS to even get in the first place for our four children. We all just had the flu, two of my children have autism, one has a pelvic kidney and severe pain, one has a congenital heart defect. We deal with a lot. We have appointments or multiple appointments DAILY. Unfortunately we forgot this one we had our days wrong. Things get screwed up we are human we lose track of stuff. It happens. It was important for us to establish care for our babies. Because of this missed appointment our two youngest we were told are "banned" from getting care through them. So we started looking for other care. We decided to keep the two oldest appointments as they are the ones who need to see a specialist and need a referral and we were scared we couldn't get in anywhere else fast enough. About an hour later after calling they called us and said we couldn't bring our kids in together and would have to take them on separate days. Kinda irritating because we already have a lot going on. So we just told them do what they have to. They then called us back and told us we might as well cancel our oldest childrens appointments as well. How can they force us to cancel? We waited forever to get them seen as it is. So if I could rate negative stars I would. I mean we completely agree it was our fault for missing the appointment, but punish us not our children. They really need medical care. Thank goodness this happened as we found another doctor, an actual pediatrician who is willing to see them in fours days as new patients. Please dont take your children here and if you do please be some sort of robot who never makes a mistake or else your children will pay the price for your mistake.
Staff sucks but doctor is amazing. I choose to put up with it because she’s so great! Keep an eye on her staff. They are lazy.
hello you are exellent
Terrible office staff. Don't go here. Doctor and staff do not care about your child. I am considering filing a lawsuit.
1st time there. New patient. Drove 1/2 hr there on my only day off. Got there 20 min prior to appt. came into small office, signed in. saw 1-office staff, I smiled, she said nothing. She was dealing w/a courier so I can let it go for that moment. As time passed, 2 other patients had arrived and were seen before me.Not once did any staff even acknowledge that I was there for 40 minutes! No one even opened the window. Finally, As I was considering leaving, I overheard the 2 office staff talking behind the glass saying...."Is she here? Is this her 1st visit? Does she need to fill out paperwork? I don't know. Maybe not because she's in the fairfield system. Next thing I know the door opens and I am being called back to get weighed. I asked her why I've been there for 40 min., why I am just now being seen when others went ahead of me. She said my appt was @ a later time. I disagreed. As I had it annotated the same @ home in 3 different spots so I wouldn't forget. (Unfortunately, they don't call to confirm appts like most offices) I went to restroom & while there, thought about things, I told them I was cancelling this appt. and going back to my PCP. I just didn't feel like they cared that I even walked through the door! The lady didn't seem to care. They were both nonchalant. I left and decided to phone their office and let them know how rude they were and maybe next time they could acknowledge patients when they come through the door. If that's any representation of the Dr.'s practice, I wanted no part of it. I needed a practice that cares. At least fake it. I called my Other PCP & got an appt. right away. I may have missed out on a fantastic Dr. due to her staff, but I guess I will never know. The staff acted unprofessionally, (you could hear their conversations behind the glass! I believe they forgot they were @ work & thought they were @ home). The Fairfield system has provided me w/some great experiences in the last few years, this was NOT one of them. Waste of my only day off, 1/2 hr. drive and petrol.
I switched primary care physicians because I started to have issues getting in when I needed to. ( once a year at best). She assured me this wouldn't be a problem at her practice. This proved to be extremely false. The first time it happened and I couldn't get in, I had the flu. I decided to give her another try. I got in within 5 days the second time for severe stomach pain , but once there, she didn't have time to address all my concerns because the appointment "was not scheduled correctly"
She's wonderful if you can ever get in to see her. I tried 3 different times to get in when i was sick (over 2 years) and only got in 1 time. That 1 time was 5 days after my call, with severe stomach pain after a surgery. Once there, she didn't have enough time to listen to all my concerns because the appointment was "scheduled wrong" and she didn't have time. I was asked to schedule another appointment, but when I tried, they couldn't get me in for over a month.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
