List of Barbara Wexelman Md's Reviews
Top breast surgeon. Very strong resume. Super attention to detail and options for the patient. Expect very direct and clear discussions. She means business against cancer!
Dr. Wexelman performed my double mastectomy. She was clear and direct about my options and the procedure. Explained options well. She also paired me with an excellent reconstruction doctor (dr.Chin) and oncologist (dr.Jackson). Very happy with the result.
Very thorough she explained everything that was to happen.
Dr. Wexelman explained all of the options in great detail with notes and drawings for you to keep. She respected the option decision. The nurse navigator took time to answer further questions by email and phone. I was able to read the after visit NOTES she had written and were posted in My Chart. I received a reply to a specific question from Dr. Wexelman on My Chart. Office visits address the need directly and efficiently so go in with your questions written down so you can get your answers.
My friend asked me to be support. to preop, surgery and post op. Was surprised at bedside manner. A doctor I trust recommended her for my surgery.,Preop appt was okay. She described things well. Postop appt was to be a visit to get results of pathology. I was taken to room where radiologist came in and told me results. Said the “team decided radiation and pills”Oncologist came in and said the same. Finally, after waiting over a hour and other two doctors ; she came in room. “ You got the news and plan, looked at incision and was very cold rushed attitude gave me next appt. and out the door. I asked her nurse why we didn’t discuss surgery report or options. “In your case typical treatment. “ Husband and I were stunned.I rejected chemo pills. Had follow ups with radiation staff very very kind. However, not her. At one year post op, I was scheduled for tests that I didn’t want because they didn’t find the cancer first time. I wanted options. Her reports misquoted me/she lied.was rude .
I saw Dr. Wexelman for a repeat cancer diagnosis. My first cancer was in 2013. Dr. Wexelman totally disregarded my concers about a cancer reoccurring. I had asked about a double mastectomy and she was very adamant against it. In fact I felt bullied when she told me she would do it but would note in my chart it was against medical advise. I found her to be rude and uncaring.
No compassion or concern Very condescending attitude. Would not recommend.
I’m a very picky person and very skeptical of Doctors....I love her, she’s very honest and straight forward... it took me a min to like her due to me being in my feelings but underneath her white coat is a real genuine person.... I truly love her and her entire team.... if God said I had to do it all over I would choose her all over again!!! Thank you to Dr. Wexelman, Dr. Jackson and Dr. Hobbs ( and their staff, also Mary Lou ) for just being who you all are🌸 this is My perfect team🌸
Dr Wexelman has been my surgeon for 2 years. She is honest, forthright, and always met me where my head-space was in facing breast cancer. She linked me up with other cancer patients for peer support, she clearly (and visually - which was great for me) explained all the treatment options and process for getting to the treatments. When in the hospital it was lovely to see her on rounds. It was like having a friend come visit in the hospital. Her communication with my plastic surgeon (for reconstruction) was great, and I felt well taken care of. As I continue to see her each year with my mammogram, I consider that part of my visit the prize for having got through the mammogram. I highly recommend Dr Wexelman as a great surgeon, and a doctor with excellent bed-side manner.
Today I had my two year check up with Dr. Wexelman, happy to say everything is going great. A little over two years ago I was faced with some of the scariest news I have ever had to deal with. I'm a mother 41 years old of three 22,12,9 at the time and was a brand new grandma. I was kinda numb...not really sure of anything at the time. She took the time to go over every option I had called and talked to me when I was unsure she was incredible. April 19, 2016 I had a lumpectomy to remove the cancer and an area of concern that she just did not feel comfortable leaving thank goodness because that was also cancer and she also found another area that never showed up on ultrasound, mammogram or MRI. Not saying another Dr. Would have not done the same but I had her and she was outstanding. June 22, 2016 I underwent a double mastectomy with immediate DIEP reconstruction I could not be happier with my decision and she was there every step of the way. Each and everyday I am happy that I had her by my side through this crazy journey I was put on.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
