Zero empathy, people skills, filter or boundaries, which is the last thing a patient needs amid the stress of a surgery. The moment he meets you, he will make inappropriate jokes about your non-white name. During the 5 minute interview, he also managed to make misogynistic comments/sexual innuendo about whether they were "going to put something special in me" and how sad it is that I can't open my mouth any wider. When I expressed that I was having trouble breathing in the OR, he responded with, "That's fine, don't breathe then." Having never met him before, I really worried that maybe he wasn't competent and that I was putting my life into the hands of a clown. When I brought these concerns up with others on my care team, I was told by three other doctors that this behavior is a recurring issue with him. While the important part is that he's decent at administering anesthesia, one wonders why MetroHealth can't find someone with an iota of cultural competence to fill his position.
