List of Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion At Nationwide Childrens Hospital's Reviews
This place is awful. They do nothing to help the kids and retaliate against the parents that don't agree with them.
I was so scared to turn 18. It turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to me. This building is so beautifully made. So warm and welcoming. But what’s the point if you’re not going to help kids? They diagnosed me with borderline intellectual functioning. Why? I didn’t talk during the IQ test ( I have selective mutism). It was a cycle. Crisis, hospital, discharge, repeat. Saying it was behavioral, and suicidality was my “baseline”(?) Earlier this year I had another crisis and went to Riverside Methodist hospital and it changed my life. I got some serious (real) help. On the road to recovery and better than I’ve been in years. The way you guys treat neurodivergent children is DANGEROUS. And to anyone reading this who relates to my story, there is help. You’re not untreatable just because this place says so. Ridiculous
It's very hit or miss depending on who you get helping you. The staff on 8A were nice when I went, but besides that it got very chaotic quickly. Shoutout Dr. Axelson who discharged me from the PCD despite me being actively suicidal and disregarding my concerns. Honestly expected better from the HEAD OF PSYCHIATRY AT NATIONWIDE CHILDRENS. Also, they have a really bad tendency to set up patients with nothing afterwards. They wanted me to attend a PHP/IOP program and none of the ones they recommended were taking patients. Overall, decent experience in the inpatient wards, but outside of that... uhhhhhh. PS: NCH, for the love of god please stop recommending Autism Speaks. They attack people with autism and are huge supporters of the ABA industry, which has caused immense trauma with people who are ND
I will forever be thankful for the men and women that helped me here. I was sent here 5 times from age 15-17 and was a very sick child; OCD, PTSD, ADHD/ADD and substance use drove me into phycotic rage and suicide. I remember many nights in the padded room, 4 quarter restraints, yet they still treated with compassion and care. Did they cure me? No. But the seed of recovery was planted within me which grew into what I am today. Things like vulnerability, resiliency, insight, accountability, and hope were planted in my mind and inspired me to change as I got older. Im 2 years and 7 1/2 mo sober and have found the help I needed and the peace which comes with it. I'll never forget where it all started. Looking out the window in the pavillion and watching the cars speed by wondering, will I ever be ok? Ive found my answer. Thank you Nationwide!
Extremely pissed at these people. I was not contacted by them at all. They told me they had my verbal consent. They did not then they said they had my husband’s verbal consent. They did not. When I went up there pissed the lady came in the room and said in the notes they tried calling and she did to. That was a lie. They asked me to sign a consent form. I said no y’all already treated her without my consent. And if you got verbal consent why do I need to sign anything. Everyone I talked to I asked for higher ups and I need information on how to start an investigation also paperwork on everyone that came in contact with my daughter. I was ignored. The social worker said she would send information home. To daughter came home with nothing. I feel like because I’m trying to go above them they called children’s services on me. Mind you at my daughter’s age she has a choice for counseling. She chooses not to do it. I also told the social worker that. Also, Back in October her first time there they allowed her boyfriend up. They did not inform me at all. Someone really needs to investigate what they are doing in here. Because they’re did the wrong thing to my family twice.
I wish I couldn’t even give this place one star so my daughter came in from her school clinic because they had some concerns just to make sure she was OK but she was in the intake room and almost every person that came in had an attitude or just acted like they didn’t want to be there in general especially this girl named Stacy doing intake questions needed to really fix her attitude. Why are you working with people‘s kids and every other word out of your mouth is something smart. Y’all need to do better.
kid was in their for 3 months i visited often. i went to get food during the afternoons in the lower level. the loud lady was rude to me when my family was in hospital. husband and son said the same. the loud lady would talk about us. scream in our face. laugh in face when no food was left for us. horrible lady. tall skinny loud lady made the time their worse
I do not recommend coming here for care. My child was referred to get a crisis assessment and we checked in at 9:30a and by 12:30p, was still never seen by a physician. We were never updated on why it was taking so long or when we would see at doctor. When having to bring him in for a crisis, I thought it would be treated as such. I have lost respect for this hospital that I once felt provided exceptional care.
I am deeply disappointed with the “help” we received today. I took my daughter to the crisis center today after finding out that she had self harmed. The ladies that did our check-in and grabbed vitals were great. However, I will admit I didn’t have her medical insurance information on hand to provide, as the subscriber is her father and he works nights so was unavailable. After the brief vital check, we were ushered to a consult room. A cold, empty room where we sat for two hours without any update. The staff in the hallways laughed and joked about snapchat streaks and somebody needing their car worked on yet again. So many of them walked by and looked in the window pane on the door and just kept making jokes and conversation with coworkers. Eventually, it became clear to me this was not a place that prioritized meeting my daughter’s mental health struggles with empathy or compassion. I asked, who I am assuming was an aide, if we could leave. She stated we needed to wait for a nurse, so we waited more. The nurse came, stated she would check with the doctor and be back shortly. Minutes later, she returned and said we were ok’d to leave. She listed off ways to get help out of routine, not genuine concern.. just repeating information she had provided countless times before.. and then she let us out of the locked unit. “Family leaving without ever being seen,” she stated to the security sitting at a desk just outside the door. I wanted to correct her. We had waited for help. I watched so many faces pass and prayed each time it was going to be someone who could offer some kind of comfort or guidance. It never was. I cannot help but wonder if the “treatment” she received would have been different if I had been able to provide the insurance information at that first window. Nationwide Children’s Emergency Room staff are phenomenal.. The same cannot be said for the Big Lots Behavioral Health Center. My daughter deserved so much better today.
World-class facility and staff.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
