A trusted counseling center in Columbus for compassionate, specialized eating disorder care!
Seeing a therapist through Eating and Behavioral Health has changed my life. I struggled with binge eating and negative body image in my early 20's. I went for about 2 years before I felt like I could leave and implement everything I had learned on my own. I still have bad days, but I truly feel like a different person on the inside. I know therapy can be difficult to schedule and expensive, but it is 100% worth it in the end. I am forever grateful I went here.
Wonderful team of people who truly care about helping people . Highly recommended
The therapists and staff at this practice truly are exceptional. They are passionate about their craft and it shows in their treatment and care for their patients. I am grateful to have them in our Columbus community.
I found the therapy mostly helpful for what I needed. Unfortunately, their cancellation policy is bonkers. You have to know 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel. You get one chance to waive the cancellation fee ($175 the first time they charge you and then $250+ every time after, if you cancel inside of 48 hours!!!) but that’s it for a year. The other part of the policy says you can cancel inside of 48 hours if you and your therapist both agree the situation is out of your control - which is extremely vague and dependent on another persons opinion of your life events. For example - I’ve had a very hard December. My grandma died on a Monday evening and my appointment was on Tuesday at noon. Obviously I was not going to make it to my therapy appointment and this used my “waived” cancellation even though my grandmother dying is outside of my control. Then - I needed an urgent medical test. I let my therapist know that I needed this test as ordered by my PCP, and unfortunately it interfered with my appointment with therapist. I asked if we could reschedule our appt, she did not have availability. I asked if she could talk to the office about waiving the cancellation fee since needing this test and the timing was not in my control. She never responded so I waited until the next day (day of my appt). I went into the therapy app and saw that my appt was cancelled. I assumed that she did not have time to respond to me but cancelled for me and was able to waive the fee. I messaged her again later and let her know I saw she cancelled and asked if she was able to waive the fee. She said no and to summarize, that me needing this test was somehow within my control, even though I’ve been in pain for weeks and my doctor had me urgently come to her office for an appt and schedule the next available test appt. I did get diagnosed with liver disease BTW - not that they care, asked, or that it seems to matter to them in this situation. So at this time, I’ve been told their office is charging ME the cancellation fee although I never asked her to cancel the appt, I only asked about what to expect with the fee if I did cancel. I have informed them I will be disputing any charges they put against my card because I am not paying for *them* canceling my appt. Edit: after posting these reviews, the owner reached out to me to rectify the situation. Thankfully I am no longer being charged a late fee. I am raising the star rating to a 2 because the therapist I had at this office was very good until this situation. The owner has stated that they will be considering making changes to the 48 hour cancellation policy in the future which I think is for the best.
I am a current patient and it is worth any wait there may be to go here. There are waits almost everywhere. If there is not, you might want to think about why. I am a long term patient of mental health, specifically eating disorder, and during my relapse, the care I am receiving has been life saving. Today is Thanksgiving, the one day people with eating disorders struggle hard! I am in a place where I can enjoy this year without all the anxiety. I have had tools reinforced to be able to make it through and be ok. I am so grateful. If you are looking to get better and not just get through…you found your place.
4-6 months for an appointment. After seeing someone for a few months, I now understand why. Their kind of therapy is very PAINFULLY slow. (This is not my first rodeo, so I do have something to compare it to, btw.) My advice to anyone looking at this place, is to find an EMDR therapist and get it over with. Unless you like going to therapy every week, for months on end with very little progress. Up to you. But I don't have that kind of time or money. I've already wasted hundreds of dollars and a year of my life.
EBH has expert clinicians who care deeply about their clients. They are dedicated to their client's recovery and always maintaining best practices and education in the field.
As a referring provider to this practice I have nothing but praise and support for the work all of these clinicians provide to their clients. They provide guidance, counseling, and support in areas of psychiatry that are very limited in our country and do this with an expertise that is top notched. Each provider has always been open to collaborate and responsive to their clients needs. Their professionalism and privacy with clients is valued and always present. I have nothing but positive affirmations and feelings towards this wonderful group of individuals.
I refer to Eating and Behavioral Health Associates on a regular basis. As a child/adolescent psychologist, I find this group to be responsive, compassionate, professional, skilled and knowledgable. They take the time to ensure each client has a good fit with the therapist that might best meet their unique needs. I am so grateful for Dr. Altman and her incredible group of therapists.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
