List of Laura Ryan's Reviews
I always find Dr Ryan very compassionate and easy to talk to. I've never had a bad experience.
Recently I visited the office of Dr. Laura Ryan. Because her schedule did not allow for a timely schedule I accepted an appointment to meet with her NP, Amy Gariety. Every two years I schedule a bone density DEXA exam as a result of my chemotherapy. Therefore my condition is considered drug induced. When I received the test results of my DEXA, it was noted as SENILE. I immediately sent a My Chart message requesting a correction because my condition is Osteoporosis, drug induced, M 81.0. According to record, my Bone Density exams go back to 2003, and have always been noted as ICD 9 733, or ICD 10 M81. However, Amy, Mary, or Dr. Ryan, not certain which of the staffers chose to report an incorrect diagnosis on my report. If I had to assume, I would say either Mary or Amy, because I received two inconsistent responses replies. One from each of them. Because this is not the first time I met with Amy, I was hesitant due to an encounter from a prior visit. I was assured by the scheduler, this visit would be different. The visit was difficult at best. I have submitted multiple MyChart messages requesting a correction, and have yet to see any results. As of this message, Dr. Ryan has yet to respond. If you are a patient at this office, please review your test results and verify your diagnosis classification.
When arriving for my scheduled office appointment I met with the NP, Amy Gariety. We scheduled a routine DEXA Exam (every two years). When I read through my test results, it was noted as SENILE. Immediately I sent a MyChsrt message noting the error and requesting a correction of the code. According to Amy and Mary (never met Mary), it was coded with SENILE for insurance purposes. I guess doctors can arbitrarily assign ICD codes to a patient as they deem appropriate. If you are a patient at this office check your test results. According to Amy, most patients don't check because they don't know. I have severed my relationship with this office immediately and I have been a patient since 2003.
Dr. Ryan did not listen to my complaints or treat my health issue. She told me I had an abnormal thyroid, and acknowledged I had hair loss, facial hair growth and diabetes, but said sometimes these things just happen. She had just a blank stare and acted like I was bothering her just being there. It was a devastating experience. My doctors are all at OSU and are all wonderful, so my experience with Dr. Ryan was shocking. My GP got me into a wonderful endocrinologist who treated my condition, thankfully, but it took a long time to get over the lack of interest and care from Dr. Ryan.
She was 15 minutes late to the first appointment of the day. My appointment was at 8 am and that is when she arrived into the office…my telehealth then started t 8:15 and only lasted 10 minutes. She refused to answer my questions. She told me that she was not going to “argue” as her means to not answer. She started off questioning why I thought I had Hashimoto disease…guess confrontation and arguing is only for the doctors?!!?! I asked if she could provide me with an expert in the field to read about or contact…but that was questioning her credentials. Closed minds do not save lives…
This doctor is almost unbelievably bad. She has a degree and I am sure she knows things, but she does not want to provide care for patients. She asks what you are there for (even if you were referred by your GP due to test results that were abnormal/ you don’t quite understand as a layperson) and looks at you while you talk like she is just waiting for you to shut up. She has zero listening skills and does nothing to explain what is happening or empower you with knowledge or a plan of action. OSU is great...all my docs are here and I love all of them. This doctor is an exception. I would love to give zero stars to her. She truly made me almost uncomfortable going back to a doctor. Awful...just awful. The building is good and her frontline staff was pretty good, as well. The only redeeming things about my two experiences with this doctor.
Great doctor and treats you as a real person, very professional and friendly, would recommend her to anyone . I have seen her for over 8 years.
Seriously the worst experience. I was already having a health problem and visiting this doctor just put off the care I needed and caused stress. Her specialty is not endocrinology, it is making a patient feel uncomfortable and insignificant.
Dr. Ryan is caring and considerate of your time. As a diabetic I have tantrums at times where I just don't care and so I do what I want and eat what I want and she calls me out on it. She is well researched and honest. Sometimes blunt but I appreciate that.As for the reviews that say she isn't a good doctor I wonder who it is they are seeing because I have never had a better one. I have followed her from location to location and will continue to do so. That is how much I value her medical consul
I have unfortunately had a lot of doctors for the past 28 years for my thyroid disease. Dr Ryan is by far the best I have ever had. I never feel as though I am being rushed out of the office and I find it easy to ask questions there or with the MY Chart app. I drive over 2 hours to come here even though there are closer places to me.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
