Impatient Rushed visit Unkind
I was referred to Dr. Wert by my GP. I had been coughing for months and the cough was getting worse. He started treating me for allergies and when I did not get any better he made it sound as if it was my fault, I must not be doing what he recommended. This went on for many many months and my health continued to worsen. My family begged me to see another doctor but I thought "well he is a specialist so I should be able to trust him". I called to be fit in to see Dr. Wert and could barely get onto the table without assistance from the nurse. I had been experiencing severe chest pains and demanded an x-ray. Dr. Wert said he felt it was "unnecessary" but if I insisted he would order it. I had an x-ray and within hours the office called and had me come in for a CT scan. Dr. Wert then told me I had a tumor in my lung only to later say it was possibly an infection. After a biopsy, the Mayo clinic confirmed I had NH Lymphoma. There was a baseball size tumor in my chest. Dr. Wert failed me. If I had not fought for the x-ray, I would have been dead within months. My lung had collapsed, my ribs were broken and the tumor was growing so large it was pressing on my airway. I know doctors are busy and have heavy caseloads but they have to "hear" their patients when they are telling them something is wrong.
I've been going to him for 3 years. He is no better now than he was when i first started with him.I was ""given" to him, because my Dr had changed jobs and left the practice. He always seems like he can't remember one visit from the last. If it is not his way, then he will tell you to hit the door. I can't get my head around a doctor screaming at a patient because i wrote something on on my "Medicine Calendar" in the wrong place. His face was so red--I didn't know whether to laugh or punch him!!! To say I was mildly shocked at his behavior would be safe!! I finished up with him, made follow up with his PA, got to my car shaking! I've got to find another Pulmonary doctor and practice!!!!!
I feel confident in his ability. I do not feel anxious s anymore about my condition.
I was referred to dr Wert by my primary care physician. On my very first visit with dr wert he advised me that I wasn't really sick and that I just believed that I was. I advised him that I was diagnosed with emphysema some years back and it's pretty clear that I am in need of medical help. He corrected me and began telling me that wasn't the case and that no one really has COPD, it's just an umbrella term. He went on and on about different things he believed and how he gives seminars about such things and in the end he didn't do a bleeping thing for me but put on medicines that didn't work and then when he put me on that did - he took me off of it! And you can certainly forget about any follow-up. He couldn't remember from one visit to the next who I was. I would call with questions and it would take several calls over a period of days to get any response. The worst part though is he wouldn't look at me. He would squint his eyes and not make eye contact. It gave me an unsettling feeling. Needless to say, I am no longer a patient there and have since found a really good pulmonary doctor that recognizes my disease and is treating me for it.
Horrible bedside manor, arrogant, abrasive, insensitive, quick to judge. I've never felt so belittled. Never again.
He had thoroughly reviewed x-rays, tests, and surgical notes going back for ten years. He gave me an excellent consultation. I would recommend him to everyone.
I've been seeing Dr Wert for some time. I have emphysema and need help but he doesn't listen to me and continually tells me all the things that I AM doing wrong. He keeps switching my meds and nothing is working. He's got this idea that he already knows what's wrong and keeps trying to convince me of problems and symptoms that I do not have. After all this time, I"m no better off than when I started seeing him. I'm done. Life is short and with this disease, it's really short. I want to enjoy what life I have left and he's not helping me do that.
Great Doctor. I've been going to Dr. Wert for nearly 20 years.
Referred by my GP for fluid on lung. Dr. Wert exactly what I like in an MD! He was professional, asked the right questions, listened to my responses, and pulled no punches. I am a retired Army officer ( Infantry and SF) and I don't need hand-holding...just be professional and courteous! Dr. Wert was all this with a bit of humor as well! A good experience!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
