I would give zero stars if I could. My family member did a volunteer admission. They wouldn't verify this person was there, so we had no clue where he was taken. They did not explain to this person His rights, explain paperwork to allow contact nothing! This place is terrible, people screaming, ankle monitors that are scanned at night so often that you get very little sleep. No, one on one therapy, just 15 minute group sessions daily. No real help. When I visited, I would hear people telling their own horror stories. They lied about a release date twice. This person will never ask for help again because of this place.
I just love BiBi. The staff and the intake process at RiverVista is pleasant and fast!
Thankful for a (Safe place to heal)""Express my emotions""that i don't understand sometimes"""this place have truly been a blessing to me""thank you for welcoming me bibi
If I could give double zeros, I would!! This place is horrible! My brother was recently there and they have totally messed him up. He is currently in Grant getting excellent care and they will move him to another good facility to get regulated on his meds. River Bista gave my brother wrong medical advise and diagnosis, he was there to get regulated on his medication and they changed it with consultation, which didn't work. Ni communication, list clothes, sent home without wallet, etc. Dtaff was rude and inept! Run from this place and never put a loved one !
DO NOT GO HERE! staff is a joke! they do not accommodate for dietary restrictions. when i had to make a complaint against shellie (tech) i was laughed at! I never even saw a doctor the entire time i was here. this place is horrible, triggering, and i wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!
This was an incredibly HORRIBLE AND A WASTE OF TIME EXPERIENCE. My relative was probated and sent to this NON CARING FACILITY in May 2026. I asked staff members where is the psychiatrist to see my family member to help her get back to better mental health and there was no type of actual doctor but a nurse practitioner?? No real doctor came to see my family member. They couldn’t get my relatives birthdate right in their system. Shows the lack of professionalism and integrity they have. She got out in 3-4 days and there was NO IMPROVEMENT and fast forward to August I’m still dealing with stress of someone suffering from mental illness. It makes me so upset how this facilities treat people mental illness and behavioral health It almost makes me want to start my own mental health facility and hire staff with actual PSYCHIATRISTS AND PHYSIOLOGISTS that is not in this field for only money and is very compassionate, empathetic, caring, willing to work with families , and actually set a plan for patients to be their best selves. As far this place goes it should be gone. I would give them 0 stars!
Trying to call your love one or checking to see how their doing is stressful when you get put on hold or the phone hung in your face and you repeatedly have to call back to make sure your love one is okay or alive please do better with communication and customer services are loved ones lives are in your hands take your jobs seriously
I am writing this review after having time away from RiverVista to reflect on my July 2026 psychiatric hospitalization and review some of the paperwork I kept from my stay. I went to RiverVista because I needed psychiatric care. I left believing even more strongly that psychiatric care and human dignity must exist in the same room. During my hospitalization, I filed a RiverVista Patient Complaint & Grievance Form. On that grievance, while I was still inside the facility, I wrote: “I FEAR RETALIATION.” That fact remains one of the most troubling parts of my experience. My grievance raised concerns involving restraint, patient rights, rules, and my request for fresh air. I also had concerns about the level of restriction I experienced and whether I fully understood the policies and patient rights governing what was happening to me. I want to be fair: I do not believe every person working at RiverVista was bad, nor am I claiming that every patient will have the experience I had. There were human beings working there, and where someone treated me with dignity or helped stabilize me, that matters too. But prospective psychiatric patients and their families need to understand something important: needing mental-health treatment does not erase a patient's humanity, credibility, voice, or rights. My strongest advice before admission is this: Ask for the patient-rights information. Read it. Know how to file a grievance. Ask who the patient advocate is. Ask what outside organization can receive a complaint. Keep your paperwork. If a restriction is imposed that you do not understand, ask what policy authorizes it and why it applies to you. Most importantly, do not assume that because someone is experiencing a psychiatric crisis, everything they say should automatically be dismissed as a symptom of mental illness. I am intentionally distinguishing between what I personally experienced, what my surviving documents establish, my personal interpretation of those experiences, and questions that remain unresolved. I will not exaggerate what happened to make RiverVista look worse, but I also will not erase what happened simply because I was a psychiatric patient when it happened. I wish I had understood before admission everything I understand about patient rights now. If my experience helps another patient or family know what questions to ask before walking through those doors, then something useful came from what I experienced. Psychiatric care should stabilize people without sacrificing their dignity. --- tina Mathews🤎
My experience was not a good one. Understaffed. One shower on the floor had hot water, for 20 people. Social worker was dismissive. The groups were often skipped. Several if not most of the techs were good, but too many patients per tech. Medication was never at the same time. No psychiatric care was provided. A patient punched a really nice tech in the face and was back the next day. My wife called twice and left messages to be called, no one ever called back. There was a large obscenity in marker on my wall that was just left there. Several other patients fought with each other, nothing was done. The lack of communication was appalling. Went there for psychiatric care received zero. The Social worker at LMH in Newark said it was a great place with one on one care. She either lied or should do more investigating before sending someone there.
It was early July 2026 and I was having dizziness lightheadedness, and chest pain. I had already been to Ohio Health in Mansfield and they sent me home. I was still having the same thing going on so we called the squad and they took me to Ohio Health Mansfield. They kept me only one night and sent me home with no answers. Later that day I said I had to go get help somewhere because I was dizzy, lightheaded, confused, with chest pain. We decided to call the squad and have them take me to Mt Vernon hospital. My wife got a call later that night from the dr saying it wasn’t anything medical it was mental so the psychiatrist there that I spoke to said she’d find a mental health facility with a bed for me to go to. I called my wife the next day. She said that I said I was at River Vista in Columbus. As the days went by she barely heard from me and the hospital wouldn’t tell her anything even with a code. I was barely allowed to call my wife due to being in lock down. Time went by and the day came that a social worker from there called telling her that he needed her to set an appointment up with va for mental health and tell him how I would get home, She told him of our insurance’s travel program. The social worker called her again the next day at 7:30 am asking if I got that appointment set up and asked about travel, She gave him the number for travel through our insurance, he said he’d call the number for our insurance to get me a way home. The day went on and my wife was getting worried because I hadn’t called her and she hadn’t heard anything and I hadn’t shown up at home,So she called the social worker around 1 pm and he said they put me in an uber and I was headed home. I never arrived and around 4:30 pm my wife got a message and call from osu east hospital in Columbus. They had me in their er. A police officer had seen me laying on a loading dock yards from River Vista filthy dirty, grass on me I was in a hospital gown and socks with bruises and cuts all over my body. 911 was called and I was taken to osu east hospital. I was in bad shape, they even resuscitated me.There they found bruises and cuts all over my body. They took detailed photos of every injury. My feet were in awful shape, my right one had been crushed and they had to have a podiatrist put my 4 small toes back in place as they’d been dislocated.I also was diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis, which is the breaking down of muscle, serious dehydration, blood sugars in the 300’s as well as kidney levels elevated and numerous abnormal labs. I didn’t remember much about my experience at River Vista. I lost all of my belongings. I was admitted to osu east on July 13 the same day I was found yards from River Vista. I was there for 4 days in osu. They were amazing. I was brought home by ambulance on the night of the 17th. I required a lot of care. I’m slowly remembering the events of that day. I remember being told by a black male nurse to pick up some pooped underwear that weren’t mine and the guy punched me in the chest,I hit him back defending myself, and a whole bunch of nurses ganged up on me beating me up and crushing my right foot and injuring my left one. They were hitting my legs and feet with baseball bats, and with all my military training I couldn’t get them away from them, I was left for dead on a loading dock.I don’t remember what happened after that. Also the black nurse kept giving me orange juice after I told him it gave me diarrhea, then the nurse would get angry and make me sit in bed in pooped clothes. I had pressure sores from that. When I was found I was in poop. I lost all of my belongings, clothes, shoes, oxygen machine with extra battery, wallet that had cash inside and cards, dentures, and phone.
