Dr Merritt and his team cared for my husband when he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He is a wonderful physician, surgeon, and most importantly, he is a wonderful person. He is very caring, has a great sense of humor, and takes very good care of every patient!

Dr. Merritt is my hero. I have met him in the OR almost twice a year for 10 year for a routine procedure. The results of his work is amazing, his surgical team is fantastic and the pre-and post op nurses are phenomenal. Today’s visit was #15+ (we have lost track), but the best pre-op and recovery time frame were a record! Thank you!

Dr. Merritt is a fantastic physician and surgeon. The Lord definitely blessed him with knowledge and skills and his bed-side manner is outstanding. I haven't even went for my follow up appointment but have already referred someone to him.

Dr Merritt saved my life. I was sent to him for a 2nd opinion. He immediately diagnosed me with Thymus gland cancer. I was told I had stage 3 lung cancer and went thru chemo and radiation treatments from a previous facility before being sent to Dr. Merritt at The James. He very calmly says.....I can operate to get the cancer. I will never forget that moment! Thank God for 2nd opinions and thank God for Dr. Merritt. He always greeted me with a hand shake and a smile. I will always remember this!
