List of Serenity Behavioral Health Services's Reviews
I was struggling with my mental health for so long. A friend of mine suggested contacting them, as she also has a therapist from there. It was the best decision I made. I have done so well since linking up with my therapist. Totally recommend.
This is a review of clinic policy, not my therapist (who's no longer with Serenity, but was great). In the Spring of 2022 I was having a crisis during Finals period, I disclosed that I was having intense ideation of no longer existing. I worded it that way to avoid triggers, but also because it was COMPLETELY passive, but was also temporarily enveloping me. I never had a plan, I was never close to taking action. However, because of this disclosure, Mary recommended that I get into an IOP. The IOP was great, but she also said that I could no longer see my therapist until I was enrolled. My chart showed that I had ADHD, progress notes showed the Wellbutrin wasn't treating the symptoms. They didn't help enroll me, didn't provide any patient support, just gave me a couple numbers to contact and sent me on my merry way with "no-contact" until I was enrolled. It took me 3 months to pick up the pieces of my life and finally enroll. When I came back to my therapist, I told him I felt like the decision was unethical and he agreed! I then went on to finish a degree that included a minor in counseling, and my intuition was right. What I learned in counseling classes directly contradicted the treatment policy that Serenity set for a case like this.
My card was charged without any authorization, and fraudulently. My therapist saved my card on file, and it was never advised or myself given paperwork, that my card could be randomly charged for random amounts without me knowing or authorizing any payment. Chris from billing advised she was told by the CEO MK Wright to charge payments on accounts with balances? That is FRAUD and i genuinely don't think you all understand that. Me saving my card on file for ease of payments, does not authorize you to take payments for any amount whenever you want, since i have a balance. that is not only fraud, that is illegal. I will be reporting this to the Ohio Medical Board as well as an official complaint, as this is completely illegal and fraudulent. You can have MK Wright call me back, since apparently she is the one "authorizing" her employees to run cards for amounts she picks whenever she wants. That is NOT legal and is the literal definition of fraud. The payment that you tried to take, has been reported as fraud, and I no longer wish to work with your office due to MK Wright, your CEO and her ridiculous "processes". I have been going to Serenity for therapy since 2019 and have NEVER not once had anything sent to collections and have always paid my balance in full. There has never been any issues with me paying my balance, and me taking 2-3 weeks to reply is not IGNORING Serenity Billing, I have a life and a child and as i stated, my balance is ALWAYS PAID. I have had issues in the past, confirmed and documented within my texts with my personal therapist, that MK Wright likes to try to push payments through without asking clients, and it has happened to me before. Thankfully that time, my HSA card rejected the transaction but I have multiple emails and proof showing where Serenity (Billing and or MK WRIGHT) has tried to run my card without my explicit permission. I'm not too sure why you, MK, think that you can give your employees permission to run a card that does not belong to you, but I can assure you that is illegal and fraudulent and I will be escalating this however it needs to be escalated, to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else that maybe can't afford for you to be running cards for random amounts without any permission.
My therapist here is great and the atmosphere is very peaceful. Glad this place was recommended to me.
I rarely post reviews. But I've had a great experience with Serenity Behavioral Health Services. Once I decided to seek counseling, I contacted several companies in the Columbus area. Serenity contacted me within 2 days, and I had an appointment within a week. The others either never called back, or didn't until several weeks later. I've made progress with my counseling at Serenity. And I was so fortunate to end up with Elizabeth Gunther. Her honesty, forthrightness and obvious expertise has quickly helped me make progress with my challenges. She is absolutely awesome. I totally recommend behavioral health services from Serenity and Elizabeth Gunther.
I had cousenling with Liz, she is all things lovely, understanding and helpful. She was able to create a comfortable and healthy environment both in session and in my mind. Liz helped me see myself through the dark times that I've had, and helped me stop focusing on others as well. She's patient and informative on the types of things that can help patients like me. All judemnets are left at the door.
I love the support I’ve received here and the sliding pay scale they offer for sessions.
Do not recommend if you have insurance coverage. Therapist refused to charge what the coverage amount was supposed to be; required payment of over 5 times. Was unable to get anyone in the office to investigate or respond to ?s. Needless to say, sessions were stopped because it was too stressful dealing with the overcharge issues every appointment.
Ann Hetzel is the worst therapist I have ever encountered. I have known quite a few, in the role as both a Social Worker and a CBT client myself. Anne changes jobs frequently due to her incompetence. She has diagnosed disorders without testing based on her opinion after a few sessions and has been unprofessional when dealing with clients and families. She doesn't keep clients or stay long at locations or jobs because her lack of skill, talent, and empathy that quickly becomes clear to her co-workers and her clients. Visit her more than 5 times and see how it works out.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
