I have suffered greatly from severe esophageal pain for the past 18 months, to the point where - if I had an “episode” - I could not walk or talk until the pain subsided. I saw Dr. Shoemaker in May 2022, had the requisite tests performed over a series of months to determine if I was eligible and had life-changing LINX surgery on November 14, 2022. I strongly encourage anyone who has GERD or hiatal hernia issues to contact Dr. Shoemaker. My life has improved dramatically!

I knew going into my appointment with Dr. Shoemaker that surgery would be necessary to repair an inguinal hernia. I was dreading the lengthy recovery I was expecting. I was quite pleased after my initial conversation with Dr. Shoemaker to find that the recovery should be much less than I anticipated. He was personable, professional, and calming as he explained the procedure and answered every question I had. The surgery was quick and I had minimal soreness after. I took one dose of the prescribed pain killer in anticipation, but did not take any more. I used a gel ice pack on my abdomen every hour. At day 4 I had absolutely no pain or even discomfort. My job requires no lifting and I went to work on day 5 and have been getting better since. I highly recommend Dr. Shoemaker as a surgeon. If I need any in the future he will certainly be the one I will see.

He is a great doc that does great work. His personality is great and I feel comfortable talking to him. I appreciate that he has told me throughout recovery to call with any questions or concerns. He genuinely cares. I highly recommend him!

Quick, in and out, procedure was well performed. No complications, never had to take any pain medication. You can trust this surgeon, just do what you're supposed to do before and after surgery.

Dr. Shoemaker made me feel like I wasn’t crazy. I knew I was in pain and needed surgery. He got me in as soon as my insurance approved the procedure.

I am very blessed to be under the care of Dr. Shoemaker! He is a very gifted surgeon who genuinely cares about the health and well being of his patients before and after surgery. I was never worried, anxious or stressed because I knew I was in great hands (literally)! His unique gifted surgical abilities mixed with compassion, confidence and honesty embraces not only his patients but is indeed recognized by the hospital staff and nurses that I interacted with (….e-squared). Dr. Shoemaker’s compassionate great questions in my first visit indeed found a health concern that I never knew was going on. He found it and I’m forever thankful!!

Doctor Shoemaker is very kind and listens. He is very honest about the issues that he might face during the surgery. He also answers all the concerns you may have and answers them in a way that you understand. He puts you above everything else. My surgery was considered a 50/50, I understood this, agreed with Dr. Shoemakers assessment and it turned out to be in my favor. Dr. Shoemaker is one of the best!

I had a left inguinal hernia repair done in early May and have had no complications whatsoever. I was nervous at first hearing I had to have surgery, but after having a few questions answered I had no anxiety. Doctor Shoemaker repaired the hernia laparoscopically and recovery was as minimal as possible. I only had to use one pill of the prescribed pain meds to tell you how my pain was after. I have since returned to lifting and running being more mindful and feel great. I can’t recommend him enough if you need to have surgery!

He is an excellent, kind-hearted gentleman that has exception communications skills. He is the one doctor that all physicians should strive to become. He put the patient above everything else. Even if he must bend a couple rules for the patient’s comfort. Even a bed height (private joke). The hospital staff all say, he is the best. They are more upbeat when he is around and freely volunteer information about the patient. Trust him. He tells you exactly what to expect, why and is with you from day one though recovery. I have never experienced this level of competency, care and encouragement. Thank you doc. And thanks to the nurses and caregiver at Dublin Hospital.
