List of Donald W. Ames's Reviews
I’ve had knee pain for over a decade and it got worse. Not sure why and still so t know why. The office couldn’t get me an appointment for 3 weeks after having severe pain for over 2 months. By the time I got in to see Donald Ames my one knee was feeling back to normal, but my other knee was tender. The staff took x-rays and made notes of all my genetic material that could contribute to joint issues. Staff was very friendly and professional. Although I was very unhappy with the experience with the DR he didn’t go over my chart notes, or rule out anything. Said my images looked fine and my knee caps was where the pain was coming from, that my knees needed more exercise. I exercise 40 minutes a day and that is a step down from 80 minutes I did for a decade. Whatever questions and he just shot them down with no technical explanation. His explanation for my discomfort was I needed more exercise and I’m not overweight, my legs are strong. I’m so very upset about my experience or lack there of. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone. Seemed lazy and I left feeling horrible for all the money I’d spent, especially being out of work during a pandemic. I’m getting a second opinion elsewhere once I’m back to work.
I recently had a bilateral knee replacement. It went smoothly, I was up and walking the same day as my surgery. Dr. Ames and his team gave excellent guidance on pain management and care. Dr. Ames is a very talented surgeon with a tremendous support team. He is professional and thorough; he takes his time, engages, listens and communicates well.
Will never see anyone else for ortho issues.... Dr. Ames is our family go- to person for these joint/ bone issues!!
In 1998 I was hit by a car walking. Had a severe compound fracture. The 1st hospital 2 doctors said my leg had to come off. I refused and when Doctor Ames seen my leg at Miami Valley. He gave me the Choice to save my leg. It's 2019 and I still have my leg. Thank you Dr Ames.

I could not be more pleased with the results of my hip replacement and the level of care I received from Dr. Ames, his staff, and the entire hospital systems. After just two weeks I'm back to work and getting back to normal. Just wish I had done it sooner!
Excellent
Excellent Physician. Knowledgeable, understanding, great clinician.
I've always received efficient, courteous care from Dr. Ames and his staff. Everything was explained prior to surgery and a pre-surgical class was required before the procedure. It has been 3 years since my surgery. All is going well and Dr. Ames makes sure with followup visits.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
