Dr Jerry Ahluwalia did a hip replacement surgery for me about 8 months ago. I have a totally functioning hip and have had since day one. Also since then, the top and side of my thigh is numb. I have daily pain. Mostly the pain is dull and aching, but sometimes it is prickly. It is painful to the touch. That is the hardest part. People seem to nudge you on the leg & my husband cannot touch me there. Now it has started being painful to walk. My neurologist says I have meralgia paresthetica. She said ‘sometimes that happens with hip surgery’. At my follow-up appointment, I mentioned the numbness. I felt Dr Jerry was dismissive and didn’t think it was a big deal. I know there are risks with surgery. However, the reality is that I will probably have pain the rest of my life with no support from the medical community.

Was told today by the doctor that surgery scheduled in 1 week has been cancelled! He claims that due to my past and current prescribed opioid use (10 mg 3x/day vs 5 mg. 3xday now) that he could not give any assurances of controlling or managing my pain after surgery. I have been through all of the prep for surgery, so this news is so shocking and distressing for me. This doctor lacks any empathy and willingness to work with his patients during this difficult time. I am not a docile little old lady. I will and did ask questions, and change appt. times to better suit me. Had a less than successful experience with another doctor in his practice in 2015. Think this was held against me. It would take Gina, his asst. days if ever to return my calls. This is no way to run a practice.

Surgery cancelled today 1 week before scheduled date. Doctor is claiming that he cannot adequately control my pain after surgery. He approved over a week ago that I would wean down from 10 mg. opioids to 5 mg. I have been doing this for over a week. Today he said not sufficient for him? He and his asst., Gina, have been offended with any questions I have asked, and even with my requesting apt. times changed. I am being penalized due to complaining of an unsuccessful result for knee surgery in 2015 from a fellow physician in his practice. This lack of empathy and willingness to work with a patient, and leaving her in limbo at the last minute, is just unbelievable to me.

I went to this doctor seeking help for my hip pain and I don’t know why but he kept making excuses why he didn’t want to do my hip impingement surgery. He sent me for a MRI and said it was not bad enough to do the surgery because there was to much risk on having a total hip a year later and that I had no labrum tear and the impingement wasn’t that bad. I then went to OSU and took my MRI with me and the doctor there said I did have a tear and my impingement went clear across my bone and my cartilage had a lot of damage. I seen doctor Jerry on June 22 2020 & went to OSU and just had surgery August 7 th and all ready feeling better a day after, no groin pain, thigh or back. Doctor Jerry is supposed to help people that are in pain and I thought he was one to help but he is a poor example of a good orthopedic surgeon.I believe that since I’m 47 years old and not 80 years of age with Medicare he did not want to help me but don’t really know why, all I know he sucks !

Should have written this a long time ago. But Dr. Jerry is awesome. I had an impingement, along with some other issues. The way explained it and how thorough he was made me comfortable.. I will say I hated the arthroscopy part of the process, but I am feeling tons better. He said I had arthritis, if i want to keep it at bay... Stay active and keep the weight down. He's awesome!

Dr Jerry sent me for a MRI with contrast that cost me out of pocket $3500. When I seen him on my follow up, he stated I didn’t have a labral tear and that hip impingement was mild and I was to young to have a impingement surgery. I told him how much agony & pain I was having and he did not seem to care. I finally went to OSU and they looked at the same MRI and did find, I had a labral tear and my impingement went clear around my socket. Two week later I was getting surgery and feel great. I believe Jerry would have gave me the surgery if I was 80 years old & had medcade. I went to Jerry seaking help and got thrown out. I thought Kettering health was top notch but I was wrong. I had to drive a little further to OSU but it was worth it to be treated with awesome care and like a human being. OSU ROCKS ! Jerry is a thumb down ! He’s all about the money & not the care that I was needing. I wouldn’t recommend going to far oaks for treatment if your younger than 80 !

Awesome bedside manner! Thorough explanation of diagnosis, answered all my questions. Humorous and serious. Speaks english -- very easy to understand.
