Does not check patients after surgery. And uses glue that breaks open.
I had a vascular bypass on right leg. Was told by Dr. Velasco that this would improve circulation to right foot which was needed. This happened in November 2019 and my leg hasn't been right since. Calf is swollen and I have pain and soreness from mid thigh down through leg to ankle. On a post surgery visit to his office I was told by his PA that this surgery did nothing to improve circulation to my foot and wasn't meant to. Nothing would improve circulation to foot. Surgery was a waste of time and money and I now have a leg that is in worse shape then before surgery.
He put a stent in lilac artery and it blocked as soon as he put it in. I did not have a pulse in my leg after he did the surgery and my blood pressure was bottom out after surgery, he never came back and checked on me. I was admitted in the hospital for 3 days and he never came around then the hospital released me and my leg was 100% blocked and he left me like that for 20 days and I kept calling and I finally made an appt and he wasnt there and I asked his nurse what do you consider and emergency 100% blockage and I left and they had me come in the hospital the next day to get wires to unblock the stent and he didnt even do that the radiologist did that and he was upset that they waited so long to do that and the stent was corroded and the radiologist had to work on it right there. I should never had the surgery. I just had narrow of the artery and he could of used the balloon and he told me they dont do that anymore they just stick a stent in and your good to go. He ruined my life
My husband had a unreason day on 28 Feb and has yet to receive the results. He has left messages with the office as least 5 time with no results. He finally reached an individual to and was told he needed to schedule an appointment to get the results. Patient response very poor. Would not recommend for to anyone forreferral.
Kind, caring and an excellent surgeon
Great Doctor and Surgeon very through and explains precedures well
Never go to him. He does not have good bed side manners because you dont see him if there is complications. He ignores you and has no remorse when there is a mistake..
I had Dr. Velasco put a port in my chest so that I could receive Chemotherapy on April 8, 2015. On September 7, 2016 he removed my port. He is a really good doctor. He explained everything that he was going to do. Not only is he really friendly, but he is very professional. You cannot go wrong with having him as a doctor.
Tremendous personality for a doctor. Really seems interested in your overall condition and providing accurate treatment recommendations. He has been excellent in allowing me to be involved in the decision making process regarding treatment.
I would enthusiastically recommend Dr. Velasco for any surgical procedure. He saved my life.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
