She is my Arthritis Dr and I wouldn't want any other. She is a terrific doctor, very friendly, professional, compassionate and spends time to talk about my health needs of my visit. Highly recommend her to others.

I've had RA for 8+ years & wanted a more proactive rheumatologist. My PCP referred me to someone she highly regarded at OSU Rheumatology. Unbeknownst to me, that doc wasn't accepting new patients, and I was randomly assigned another doc (Sheryl Mascarenhas). 1. Dr. Mascarenhas wasn't convinced I had RA, despite the referral. 2. Dr. Mascarenhas was more concerned w/ adverse effects I might develop from the meds (although I'd had none in 8+ years) than the primary effects of the disease itself (bone erosion, pain). 3. Her electronic Rxs never included refills (which I was accustomed to), resulting in missed timely doses b/c of hoops I had to jump thru to get refills. I'm a knowledgeable, compliant patient who even went gluten-free to help prevent joint damage. I also have a MD degree from OSU. None of this mattered to Dr. Mascarenhas. If you don't want to think for yourself, or don't mind being treated as a non-compliant patient at risk of self-harm, then she's is the one for you.

Outstanding the first initial visit and the second visit! She took her time and touched my joints to check for inflammation. She sincerely cared about me, the patient! She is a believer in having lab works and X-rays or MRIs as needed. The best doctor I have very seen!
