My wife has been going to Dr. Coates for the past two years. She has helped us through a miscarriage and most recently, the birth of our child. I can't say enough good things about her as OB/GYN and as a person overall. She truly cares about her patients and I would highly recommend her to anyone. Dr Coats is awesome
Dr. Coates is dangerous. Please go somewhere else. Don't deliver your babies at St. Rita's or Lima Memorial because Women's Health for Life has an office/delivers babies at both. I went into the ER at St. Rita's in labor very early. My daughter was breech but 2 lbs and I had my son less than a year before. I was fully dilated. I could have delivered her normally. It was my right to refuse the c section, it's called informed refusal. I knew the risks but also knew c sections were just as risky. They immediately wanted me to do a c section and chased my family out. I told the nurse I didn't want the c section and she yelled at me and said I didn't have a choice. Dr. Coates walks in and I say I don't want a c section. She smirks, says I'll be fine and rushes out of the room. The nurse yells at me. I start asking to leave, not allowed. Ask for my family to come back. They were blocked by security. I begged for them not to, yelled for help, and they yelled at me until I gave up. This is consent under duress. This is illegal. Then when I had the surgery my oxygen dropped to high 40s, I woke up and asked if that's normal and no. I passed back out. I hear later I bled a lot from the surgery. Dr. Coates told me. What she said was, "I laughed at how much of your blood was on me." Are you kidding? What a psycho. How does she even still work there? And the rest of her coworkers back up what she did. "We did our best," they say. They know what she did. I have a t shaped cut also so they did a bad job with the c section. Most doctors will refuse to let me try VBAC because of the way I was cut. Risk of rupture is way higher. I wasn't done having kids. This is cruel. My kids want a sibling but is it worth risking me dying from another botched c section or a rupture? Also they removed my ability to write Facebook reviews so I don't make them look bad. I was about to write this on their Facebook but I can't. Weird. Anyway. Please stay safe, don't use any of these doctors at Women's Health for Life. Dr. Coates is dangerous. Please go somewhere else. Dr. Coates was terrible! She never introduced herself or explained anything, didn’t take my medical concerns seriously, and was very rude and condescending. I would never recommend her to a friend or sister. I’ve seen my fair share of gynecologists and she is by far the worst!
She is a heartless person. Laughed at me when I tried to refuse surgery (which was my right but that's beyond Dr. Coates understanding.) Gave me medication known to stop milk production after I asked if it would affect it at all. And her coworkers at Womens Health for Life lie to cover her mistakes. Stay away from her and St. Rita's, Memorial. Have your kids out of town if you can.
Love Dr Coates! She is very thorough and takes time with you so you understand your diagnosis and what needs to be done.
Not sure if they over schedule or what. Waiting time is 45-1hr+ by the time you get to her your appointments are rushed and only around 5mins, she rarely explains things and lack of communication period. You're treated like a paycheck. After this pregnancy Im definitely never coming back, I dread every appointment.
Very unprofessional office and did not make me feel welcome or comfortable. Office staff had poor attitudes and did not smile and were very stand offish.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
