I had back surgery exactly one year ago today. It was the best decision of my life to have this done. I have been pain free for a year and I have my life back to normal thanks to Dr. Gurley. I felt pretty defeated when I first saw Dr. Gurley, but he is an amazing doctor and knows exactly how to make his patients feel better. If I never went and saw him, I'd probably still be in a ton of pain. 6 plus years of having nothing but pain in my left leg, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365 days a year was enough. Then I was sent to see this amazing surgeon. He is a super nice doctor, that was very informative in what exactly was going to be done during my surgery and he told me that this is going to be exactly what I need to feel better. He was not kidding. He informed me during every visit to go get a second opinion so that I knew he wasn't just telling me that I needed surgery so he can make money off of me. He knew that I would be told the same thing by other doctors. I did my research on him before I went and saw him, during the time I saw him, and right up to the day I had the surgery performed. I will always recommend him to other people to see if they need to have back surgery. His staff is also very amazing, super friendly and always smiling when you go to his office. I have never felt so comfortable going to see a doctor before in my life. I just want to thank you again for the awesome job you did on my back and for absolutely making me feel so comfortable every step of the way during this process. You are truly a great surgeon and person and you gave me my life back, so thank you!!

About 10 yrs ago, Dr Gurley diagnosed me with lumbar spinal stenosis, he was up-front about the degree of stenosis and said it was significant enough that in the future I may need surgery. He proceeded to tell me that we wouldn't even talk about surgery until we tried everything else and told me to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I got a 2nd opinion with a Dr who agreed with Dr Gurley's diagnosis and the significance of the stenosis but was ready to do surgery that day! Needless to say, I went back to Dr Gurley, he sent me to pain management and I was able to put surgery off for another 6 years! I had a laminectomy and fusion of L 4-5 a month ago and although I'm still recovering, it was the best decision I've ever made. Also, the surgery had to be canceled twice due to the covid issues in the hospital, Dr Gurley called me himself both times to cancel because he knew I would be devastated and he wanted to be the one to speak with me and explain the dangers of recovering from such a big surgery with Covid risks. I wish I could personally talk to anyone who is even considering spinal surgery, there is NO ONE else I would let touch my spine!

Huge shout out to Dr. Gurley! I had a fusion of L5-S1 and L4-5 2 weeks ago. I am doing so well. Its like a miracle! Spine problem? See Dr. Gurley, he's the best!

I would not recommend Dr. Gurley. He cancelled my wife's surgery minutes before her operation because he had some panic attack at the last minute and said all of a sudden that she was too high risk and too much liability. She was all hooked up to IV, and electrodes all over and just waiting for him to start. For months before that, he had her take all sorts of expensive tests and buy a 4000.00 brace that we were not able to get reimbursed by my insurance because it was so unusual. I am still paying for all of the expenses of a surgery that he cancelled minutes before the operation. He is unstable.

He operated on my mother 3 times, before she passed after living a miserable quality of life for many years she told me “ I wish I would’ve never had my back operated on “

Such an amazing surgeon! Explained the procedure so well that we knew exactly what to expect every step of the way. It’s been about 2 weeks since the surgery and the rate my husband has heeled is nothing short of a miracle. Most of those who know us can’t even tell he had his back split open just 2 weeks ago! He’s lived with terrible pain for YEARS and Dr. Gurley seems to have got rid of it in 1 surgery! Can’t recommend him enough!!

Dr. Gurley is an amazing spine surgeon! I can now walk and work with no pain. What he did for me was miraculous. He also cares so much about his patient’s health and well-being. He fought with my insurance company for me to have my surgery and hospital bills covered, he is the most “real” doctor that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with and that is so refreshing in the world of “stuffiness” that we live in today. If you ever need a spine surgeon, I definitely without a doubt would recommend Dr. Gurley.

Just saw Dr. Gurley recently and remain impressed with his vast depth of knowledge and compassion for those he serves. I'm 10+ years post multi-level lumbar fusion, and if I had to do it all over again, I would not change a thing. There is only one choice for me for spinal care needs in future - thanks Dr. Gurley and staff!
