Horizons Counseling's Online Review Report Card

I was trying to get in to see a doctor and filled out the form on the website and never heard back from anyone. That's just bad business.

I have had a great experience with horizons counseling. I felt very comfortable from the start with who I was placed with. I didn’t feel I was being judged-only listened to which you don’t find often. I’d refer anybody to them!

I've used these services for many years. While I was not impressed with Karen Raven's attitude, you have to realize that you aren't going to "click" with every therapist, and that sometimes it takes several before you find the right one. That being said, Christine Comstock has been a lifesaver to me. She's helped me get through a divorce, contentious relationships and childhood trauma. She has a great manner that is easy and non-judgmental. She's very accommodating and helpful. In fact, years later, needing therapy again, I have sought her out (and even changed insurance providers to one that covered her) just to see her again. THAT'S how big of an impact she's made for me.

I went here years ago when I was going through a traumatic experience. My therapist really supported me in gaining perspective. After that, years later, I had a work related issue that I went back to her to process for support and was able to understand how to manage. I go back to this practice when I need support as they have been that for me over the past 5+ years on and off

I have been to many psychologists around the world, my ex. was military, and I have been laughed at, ridiculed and told I was the problem. Never once did my, Horizons, therapist make me feel anything but safe, heard, allowed to have my feelings and have them mirrored back at times and have an "aha!" moment. Yes the bldg. is old, but I feel more welcomed there than anywhere a lot of the times! I couldn't recommend them with more fervor.

I found the kind of therapist that I felt suited me and my issues very well.I have never been spoken to,in a rude manner by anyone,ever.I had insurance problems here and there.The receptionist caught it and cleared it up for me,before I was even aware.There are several therapist to choose from.For those who complained,try another,they are well staffed.

Very good doctors

I am a therapist who was seeking out counseling for help with a high conflict co parenting situation. A trusted colleague gave me a referral to a psychologist who then referred me to Dr Chiappa. I explained the situation and scheduled an appointment for my husband. We then learn that my husband's ex had called Dr. Chiappa and that he had not only released information about my husband's appointment to her without a release of information being signed but also scheduled her for her own appointment using my husband's insurance. My husband and I were immediately shocked. When I called Dr.Chiappa to inquire about why his response wouldn't have been 'I can neither confirm nor deny that person is a client here' he stated "oh..um..I forgot your husband was the client." I then asked why my husband's ex would be under the impression that she could use my husband's insurance for her counseling session. He stated "oh...um..I didn't even ask her about insurance or billing." He then proceeded to tell me there is a way to bill for a therapy session without the client present. I asked him why in the world would my husband want his ex using his health insurance for her therapy session? I inquired about possibly using their son's Medicaid. He told me he could for the mom but wouldn't want to for my husband because it doesn't pay him as much. I'm in private practice myself and I'm well aware of the reimbursement rates for insurance but I would never tell a client that I want them to pay more than someone else seeking the same therapy. We then find out that he tells my husband's ex the same thing! Why would he be discussing my husband's insurance information with his ex AGAIN?? Still no release signed! And how would my husband ever trust him enough to seek therapy from him? I sought out advice from several of my therapist colleagues who agree that this was a COMPLETE violation of confidentiality, HIPAA, and unethical behavior. Specializes in high conflict coparenting?? What a joke. He created more drama through his unethical practices prior to even having one session. I would not recommend Dr Chiappa to anyone. Please be aware!

I have used Horizons services in the past and they had helped me through a difficult time. I plan to go back to them again as some issues have resurfaced. I would highly recommend them.

I highly recommend Horizons Counseling and have faith in the kind and caring professionals and staff there. I wasn't there very long, but I am grateful for the helpful advice that I received when I needed someone to talk to. Thanks for being there at the right time Horizons Counseling...YOU ROCK.
