Dr. McGann is a wonderful orthopedic surgeon. He and his partner at the time put in my first hip replacement after I fell down a flight of stairs and landed on a concrete driveway. About 15 years later, that hip and the other hip both had to be replaced, and they did a fantastic job. Now 17-18 years later, my right hip is bothering me. My doctor sent me to UCSF because my immune system isn't working and I need special care. The doctor at UCSF told me I would have to have my hip done the old-fashioned way because of how it was put in. This would mean a long recovery and a lot of pain, not to mention a long hospital stay. I decided to run it past Dr. McGann. Dr. McGann told me there is an easier way - with only an overnight in the hospital and a four-inch incision! I feel like a huge load has been lifted off me. I've been going to Dr. McGann since 1986, and he is VERY cutting-edge (no pun intended) in his knowledge. The hip he put in my left hip will likely last me the rest of my life!
