John C Martin's Online Review Report Card

Doctor Martin is a phenomenal provider. He is incredibly kind and cares for each one of his patients. He above all is honest, gives everyone appropriate time (which is so rare) and encourages lists of questions you may have so he can go over everything with you to put you at ease. If you want/need someone who is punctual with appointments this is not your provider and he will tell you the same thing. However, I would wait all day to see him because of the attentive and expert care he gives. When not seeing Doctor Martin (because he can't be there all the time) you are in the expert hands of either his Nurse Practitioner Leah or Physician Assistant Hannah who put you at ease the moment they walk into the room. The ladies at the front desk and the ladies who are in scheduling are so incredibly kind and helpful. I cannot say enough great things about this group! I wish they could take care of all of my health care needs!

2 month update: I am now 38 weeks going on 39 Friday and today's visit felt super rushed and like I was being forced into what Dr.Martin wanted all of a sudden. Since I met him the conversation was I wanted to have a natural labor with no medicine unless I wanted it. All of which he agreed to if my body & baby permitted. In fact he agreed with confidence. Today at my visit it maybe lasted what felt like 5 minutes all of which consisted of him telling me I should be induced this weekend and I'll need an epidural and probably to have my cervix ripened. NONE OF WHICH I ASKED FOR OR WANT. I do not have GD even the high risk dr said she doubted it. The only concern was the risk of another bad episiotomy. An issue the Dr. said previously he was very confident handling... only other concern was babies size which he mentioned and said he wanted me to have an ultrasound only I HAD one last week on Wednesday? He didn't even know or check my file but is making suggestions like that? I came from a seriously horrible Dr. 11 years ago (hence no medication unless emergency) & a Dr. this pregnancy that I also felt rushed with and only wanted me to have a c-section because it's what she wanted. Now I feel like Dr. Martin is doing the exact same thing. I should also add he slammed the door while leaving the room and his assistant said "oh he's mad." Couldn't tell if she was joking or not but I don't need medical advice from someone because they're angry or want me to do something solely because it's convenient for them. Not when it's my health and my babies at stake. Now I am just nervous and unsure about everything. Not what I wanted for this Dr. Or birth. NEXT DAY UPDATE: the receptionist informed me the Dr. Is going to Disneyland so that is why he wants to induce? No thank you. Wish he would have just said he wasn't up for delivering more babies so I could have found a doctor I could rely on. Extremely disappointed and anxious now.

I just switched to this office & Dr. Martin a couple months ago and I have to say any anxiety or doubts I did have left after speaking to him and his staff. This is my 2nd child so I had some concerns about labor which he addressed pretty directly. What I like most about him is he doesn't just tell you to do something because he thinks you should or wants more money, he also let's you know of the cons you could experience after specific procedures. I find that comforting since many doctors just don't do that anymore. The office itself is very spacious. Plenty of lobby space split into an OB section and a Gyno section so you can go through different doors to the back. No hard chairs here either, it's all nice comfy couches! The wait here for me at most has been 1 hour to see the actual Dr but its never gone over that. He also apologizes for the wait which is another thing most places just do not do. They have a water cooler for anyone who might get thirsty while waiting and 3 tvs in each area. They triage you separately in a little nook in the back and not in the rooms for better efficiency. And they have multiple bathrooms (w/ baby changers)!Which is always a nice plus for all the pregnant mamas out there.

I want to start off by saying I love Dr. Martin and his Summerlin Hospital staff. The reason this is only a 3 star rating is because the nurses at the desert shores location have very poor customer service skills and seem extremely moody and unhappy. Another occurrence I just had was with the after hours hotline with an operator named Lille. She had horrible customer service skills over the phone and had no desire to help me answering any of my questions. I now understand that the after hour line is for emergency calls to the dr from what Lille said however I called thinking maybe they could help since I received a call from dr martins office today to confirm my appointment for Monday morning. I asked Lille if she knew if everything should be ok since I just confirmed yesterday with the automated service and she proceeded to be extremely rude and say that she had no idea in a very snarky response like I was supposed to know what questions they can and can't answer. I would have completely understood if she would've approached the conversation with more professionalism and a better tone but I could not sit back without writing some sort of review about her attitude. There was no need for it. I'm sorry for my rant and I'm not one to write bad reviews but this one just did not sit right with me. I do want to reiterate Dr. Martin is an awesome Dr and I'm happy that he will be there delivering my first child that we waited so long for. with the after hours hotline with an operator named Lille. I had a very positive experience in my prenatal care with dr martin and his staff. His staff is kind and attentive. Dr martin gives you as much time as you need in each appointment, be that 5 minutes to 45 minutes. That impressed me but his manner and method when delivering my baby was beyond compare. I have had four other births by four other doctors, nothing that I have ever experienced before in having births compared to how dr Martin does it. He was extremely relaxed yet attentive. It's the first time I and the entire nursing staff were laughing between pushes! His manner and method for delivery were extremely calm and thorough and I felt the experience was so wonderful for the baby, to have been born in such a calm way. I feel truly blessed that I chose him as my doctor.

I wanted to put out there that doctor Martin is hand down the best Obgyn ever !!! He's the most caring and considerate person ever !!! He delivered both of my daughter which are now 13 and 11. The delivery was smooth with the presence of Doctor Martin and doctor Swainston. Both a great team !!! I would highly recommend them !! I've been going there for 15 years !!' Also cheryl his nurse she explains everything you need to know and if you need to be seen sooner she does her best to accommodate you !!!

Dr. Martin is an incredible, kind and patient man. I came to him for my 4th baby after hearing raving reviews and so happy I did. I don't think I will ever find another doctor that cares more about me and my baby's health than him. It is beyond reassuring to know that he has (my not so ordinary) situations completely under control with our safety as a priority. He has gone above and beyond to spend the time with me to answer every question and shoot straight with me. I know I am receiving the BEST care possible and so GRATEFUL for him!

He doesn't practice anymore

I don't have enough words to express my appreciation and gratitude for Dr. Martin he is the Best Ob/Gyn in my eyes for finding the cure to my disease that haunted me for the last 17 years of my life. I am another woman and i have everything to thank him for, he was able to diagnose me in 1 visit and get me schedule within 2 weeks for surgery. Surgery came after 2 months and now I'm 10 months Post-Op and living my life even on that time of my month. I feel like i do have every sickness in the book and he is one of my specialist aside from Ob/Gyn. Dr. Martin and his PA Andrea Hill (she is awesome, I recommend her) they both have great bedside manner and are not quick to push you out if you ask a million questions. When Dr. Martin diagnosed me and later did surgery he helped make two pills go away from my long list, because i hate pills. I know he is booked for years ahead for basic checks but if you need anything that requires a doctor only Ex. IUD insertion, Surgery consultation and or if you are pregnant you will see him. Regular check ups Ex. Yearly exams you will see his PA.

After seeing another doc, I took a friend's advice and saw Dr. Martin. I'm so glad I did! I was so much more comfortable with this office! Everyone is competent and Andrea Hill (PA I think) is awesome! I'm SO happy I switched my care to Dr. Martin and his team. I know my baby and I are in good hands. Worlds apart from my experience with Dr. Kelley and his team.
