List of Catherine Hunter's Reviews
I saw dr hunter yrs ago for my anxiety disorder and on several occasions yrs apart she saved me every time, she even agreed to see me when I was 19 which she doesn’t typically do-I’m sorry for the terrible reviews here, I can confidently say she helped me when I felt I couldn’t be helped, she is still one of my favourite docs, thank you dr hunter! You were always kind, compassionate and always let me talk, spent hrs with me, very grateful u came into my life when I needed you, many times! Truly such a great doctor!
Not a very nice doctor.
As other reviews have consistently highlighted, Dr. Hunter's approach focused on prescribing medication with little to no regard for circumstances or necessity. Medication is never questioned, it is simply given, often times off-label (not approved for children so young or not approved for her "diagnosis") and in massive dosages. Personally, I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Hunter and essentially forced to take unnecessary medication. Other healthcare workers questioned her diagnosis and approach and essentially fixed her terrible mistakes. I do truly believe that what she did to many patients bordered on medical malpractice. Unfortunately, I think she was incapable of providing medical care beyond medication, which really is certainly not the case for other practitioners who listen to their patients and are willing to take a holistic view. The worst physician I have ever seen in my life and someone who I think has done far more damage than good in her career.
Probably one of the most dangerous doctors in Niagara.
Maybe needs to go back to school. I’d like to see that.
Over-prescribed. Never listened, just more medications always, even beyond what the safety label recommended (no more than 6 months), I was jacked up to max fast and left there for 2 YEARS. Now facing the physical consequences on my liver and kidneys thanks to her over-prescription of anticonvulsants. I have bipolar and she entertained zero tolerance for holistic interventions such as nutrition, sleep hygiene, or exercise. Everything was literally just - here's another pill for that. Medical malpractice IMO. BEWARE.
Dr Hunter put me on Celexa and Seroquel when I was only 8. I was forced to take this and was misdiagnosed with tourette's syndrome which is now permanently on my health record. Due to not being properly treated for what could have been salvaged through therapy, I was subject to many traumas and eventually addiction to prescription pills. The fact that she is still out there doing this to children makes me sick. She had a huge role in what followed due to her over prescribing medication, especially as a child. NOT SAFE.
I saw Dr. Hunter.with my daughter who had tried to commit suicide 5 times due to bi-polar issues and having been prescribed Effexor by the family doctor. Dr. Hunter was friendly.and knowledgeable and immediately informed me Effexor was not for teenagers. She prescribed Celexa for her chemical umbalance and saved my daughter's life. In our case I can say I was very impressed with how she helped my daughter who is now 30 years old and doing well. She has the utmost respect for Dr. Hunter.
Dr. Hunter is a terrible psychiatrist. I saw her when I was a ternager. She would eat and shuffle papers while I was talking, never seemed like she was listening, all of her questions seemed mocking. I got the feeling she thought she was better than me and I was saying her time. She over medicated me for depression knowing it was environmental and did not give me any solutions regarding dealing with the awful situation I was in. Her efforts were primarily spent trying to convince me to take medication I didn't need and wasn't helping, at a higher dose than anyone should have been on, when what she should have been doing was providing me resources so I could get out of the situation I was in. She was sarcastic, unengaging and unprofessional. Would never recommend her to anyone, even as a last resort.
Dr. Hunter is Awesome, she us the best Peds Surgeon in my book. Her and LCH save my niece alot of pain and suffering. Thank you, The Hill Family

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
