List of Charles A Hogan's Reviews
Dr hogan is great , but his staff is terrible! Do not expect a call back from his medical assistant or any office staff. I’ve left 5 voicemails over 2 weeks with no return calls. I have an upcoming appointment that I will probably miss because his office will not answer calls or return them.
Dr Hogan is a great doctor one you feel comfortable talking with about all problems you may be having. I would recommend this Dr. To anyone. He is a great person
I have mixed feelings about Dr. Hogan. He was very thorough in going through my medical history, my exam, and explaining my xrays and MRI to me. He did sit and speak with me for a very long time. However. He couldn't figure out my pain. Yes I have DDD and 4 cysts, but he said those shouldn't be causing me as much pain as I am in, he spoke negatively about the Tarlov Cyst foundation, and basically told me to go home, lose weight, and pray. I felt very defeated and left his office in tears. He said, "everyone just wants a shot a pill or a surgery to fix them." Well, yeah, doc. No one wants to live with pain, do you? He did refer me to PT for aqua therapy, but I'm having surgery on my foot in two weeks which will keep me out of the pool for a very long time, which I explained to him. If he can't fix the pain he didn't offer any other alternatives to manage it. Besides losing weight and prayer. If I could pray the pain away, I wouldn't have been in his office to begin with! Also, I've lost 15 lbs in a month, and Im still in a lot of pain.
My experience with Dr. Hogan was excellent. I searched out a specialist for a neck and shoulder issue and found him. I called his office to see if I would need a referral to see him and the staff was friendly/knowledgeable said he could see me without even with the knowledge I wanted to do self pay. They did x-rays and referred me for a CT scan when the x-rays didn't show an obvious cause for issue. Being self pay he was conscientious about my bill and did not want to do more x-rays or the CT scan but I assured him that it was not a worry for me but appreciated him for that. When the CT scan came back the results were better than I had expected and his explanations of all x-rays and scans were easy to understand. I can appreciate a doctor who looks at injections, prescriptions, surgeries as last options and doesn't just prescribe things unnecessarily. At the end he gave me a card for another specialist if I wasn't satisfied with the results I could get another opinion. I would trust him for any new issues with neck and arm pain.
I feel obligated to write Dr Hogan a review. It was my first surgery. It was about as close to perfect as it could be. He didn’t rush anything. He suggested other forms of treatment before walking me through the surgery. And after the actual procedure I was amazed at how good of a job he did. Don’t let his age fool you He has the touch of experience. And guidance from above!!!
Ive had ongoing back pain so bad it wakes me up at night since the end of september.. Ive had endless appointments, spent thousands on mris and xrays, and all dr hogan did for me was have me order a 300 dollar back brace that made the pain worse.. There was a previous diagnosis of degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis that he would only tell me shouldnt hurt that bad. I have a family history of this and have seen just how bad it can be.. The nerve pain itself is maddening. Instead of doing surgery or steroid injections he suggested more xrays that would amount to the same treatment.. I felt like my pain was not taken seriously and surgery was never an option. I had no choices and finally after my 3 hour drives to these appointments and being in tears from sitting for that long, ive decided to try another doctor.
As I sit here waiting for a follow-up appointment, I'm getting so frustrated the only thing I can do is write a review. First off, if I was writing a review on Dr. Hogan ONLY, I'd give him 5 stars. He is knowledgeable, has a great bedside manner and seems to really care about his patients. That being said, for my initial appointment I had to wait over an hour to see him (I arrived early, but it still took over an hour past my appt time). I chalked it up to a bad day for the clinic's scheduling dept. Fast forward a month and I'm here for a follow-up. My appointment was at 1:45. I arrived at 1:30. It is now 3:16 pm and and I'm STILL WAITING. Seriously, this is beyond unacceptable. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving in the next few minutes without being seen.
August 2019 - I was referred to Dr. Hogan by my family physician. I was having severe back and leg pain. Dr. Hogan had recommend shots 1st then if they were not successful we would talk other means. December 2019 I had L-4,L-5 and S-1 fused. NO more pain it was the best advice I had been given in over the 13 yrs. It was my 1st surgery at the age of 65. He did a 360 - 1 night in the hospital went home starting walking 1/4 mile the 2nd day out and a mile the 3rd day out. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hogan. He has great bedside manners makes you feel as if you are his only priority. Great person!! His staff is 2nd to none.
Dr. Hogan saw my 81 year old sister who has Alzheimer's disease. He was very thorough and professional. We felt like we were his only patient. Her injury was explained to us. He made sure we had time to ask any questions we had. I wish all doctors were like him.
Kind, friendly & professional! The doctor explained everything that was happening to me. Explained my medications that were prescribed to me. I left feeling very happy.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
