List of Ryan Wilson's Reviews
Have had numerous visits with Ryan Wilson and can attest that he is knowledgeable and compassionate. Therapy is not always comfortable but it's the discomfort that allows us to heal. Highly recommend.
Dr. Wilson diagnosed me with something really rare that my Primary physician had missed twice and I ended up in the urgent care with and he caught. He truly saved me because it could have turned bad without being caught and my primary thought it was extraordinary that he came up with that. Besides being very knowledgeable he was professional patient and kind.
Not sure how this doctor got into this field. Has no social skills and is not helpful. All he did was stare at me with a blank look and we ended up fighting most the time about what he wanted me to say to get him to stop staring
Helpful and patient, I can speak about anything with him.
I've been to counselors, social workers, psychologists over the last 14 years trying to be better. Be well. Everything else was scratching the surface. Dr. R. Wilson helped me understand my triggers, helped me work through them and I"m finally feeling emotions again. It was a super rough road, and I made it to the other side still working but in a much better place than before. I found Dr. R. Wilson completely non-judgmental, empathetic, and knowledgable. |I was emotionally exhausted after every session and would work hard between sessions to translate what I uncovered into something that could be used in daily life. I don't think I'd be here today if it weren't for his intervention and the hard work I put in to our time together.
I have no idea what he's getting at or even the point of therapy. My doctor recommended I try therapy to stop mail biting but going through my whole life searching for a trigger seems more thraumatizibg than biting my nails and he's never had any idea of how long this process will take or any information about the process and how it's supposed to help. Is just talking about things that bothered you in your life supposed to do something? He doesn't respond with anything but a vacant state and a periodic nod or to tell you to go on. I've been trying to determine how long to do this but I get the sense I should do it until the province stops paying for it regardless if it's a real issue or not. The longer I stay the more I get the feeling I'm seriously broken and where he thinks of it as a break through I think it's just a doctor wanting to make more money and tgay bothers me that he just lets you think there's a problem he's seeing but won't explicitly say it. Then it's on you if you read into things.
The one thing I wasn't prepared for is how hard the work is. It's really hard. He is patient and calls it like it is, but sometimes he moved too fast and it was hard to really understand what he was saying. But then I'd have an "aha" moment and things would change. I realized I came in wanting someone else to fix it for me and he showed me that even though he'd be there with me, no one can fix it but me.
Looking at the responses below, I'm quite surprised at the extremely different reactions people seem to have had to this therapist. I found it difficult to converse with him or to make myself understood I should say. That's one thing I learned, that when I want to blame I really have to look at my part in the situation. I can't say I really think this kind of thinking has been positive for me though. I think I find myself blaming myself now where I never really felt like I did that before. I didn't like the experience.
I feel he was really attentive and "got" me in a way I haven't had before, even though I have seen lots of people in the past. He was able to help me know myself and understand years of unhealthy coping patterns in a very non-judgmental and accepting way. I got more insight out of 5 sessions with him than I have from years of therapy in the past and he respectfully helped me take responsibility and change my life for the better. I know it is a process and I am the one who ultimately did the work, but he definitely set me on the right path and I am forever grateful to him for it and have recommended him to many others since who have also had positive experiences.
He doesn't hear what you are saying. It's like it goes in one ear, through a theory filter where he understands it to fit a theory and when he repeats it back to you it's covered in assumptions. You could say you had a dream about bananas and he'd repeat back, so you are having dreams about long hard objects, hum? Or you could say you are always tidying up the house after messy kids and he'd say so it sounds like you have need to keep the house clean, like that's an OCD thing, when all you meant was that that's what you do, that's your job, it's neither good nor bad it's just what you do. When he does it enough times you start to hear it like its a bad thing and a need is an issue.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
