List of Shauna Mckinney's Reviews
I was basically a dollar sign to this doctor and apparently not worth the time to listen too. They charged me over double upfront my copay then told me my insurance would reimburse me. (Which my insurance thought was weird) The doctor talked more to the medical student in our meeting then to me. Then had me come in for 2 test (blood work and ultrasound) Blood work I was given a price before leaving that day. The day of my test they told me an additional $220 for an ultrasound. I asked if I could get the ultrasound done else where bc I work for a place that I could get employee pricing. Was told no it had to be in house. Told my blood could not be drawn else where that it must be there and sent to this special place to read ( $200 minimum). Over $500 I was to be charged in the two visits. They did not try to work with me so I could afford these test. Everything had to be there and their prices. After talking to some other doctors office and lab places. I could have had these test done cheaper and all sent back to this doctor. I left the doctors office with no test done, some other frustrations with this office, and feeling like all this world cares about is money. This doctor may help you with your needs but it comes at a hefty price.
Dr. Shauna McKinney took the time to diagnose and treat my PCOS and get me in the best shape to conceive. I conceived my son via Clomid a few months after our initial visit, after 3 years of infertility. She was so understanding and kind, having been through the process herself. We were able to conceive our next baby all on our own the following year because she taught me how to treat my condition! She changed our lives and helped me beat infertility. We love her and feel as though she is part of our family. We would never use anyone else. Everyone we came into contact with at her office was very kind and understanding.
I did not plan to share a review on Tulsa Fertility Center and Dr. Shauna McKinney, since it has been over two years and my wife is now successful with Dr. Amols. But I think sharing our experience may help many people in a similar situation. The results with Dr. Shauna McKinney: 22 eggs were retrieved, and only 10 were mature, 1 egg was successfully fertilized, and genetic testing showed the only fertized egg was bad. No transfer was performed as there was no embryos. My wife had a severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and it was an ordeal to suffer through an extended period of time. This result was highly abnormal. For comparison, we had been with three doctors, and the other two were Dr. Batres and Dr. Amols. With Dr. Batres, we had 20 eggs successfully retrieved and 18 were successfully fertilized, and 10 survived into blastocysts. With Dr. Amols, we had 33 eggs retrieved, 28 fertilized, 14 survived into blastocysts. And there was no OHSS with either of these doctors. In retrospect, it became obvious that the failure with Dr. McKinney was more due to her negligience. She canceled a very critical ultrasound appointment before egg retrieval instead of asking other doctors to do it because she had a personal business. Throughout the process, she didn't make any changes to the doses of the medicine, where both of other doctors had adjusted the medicine for at least once based on the ultrasound results. In summary, I would recommend anyone who care about the results and the well being of their partner to stay away from Dr. McKinney. She is just a horrible person, and of course, an incompetent and irresponsible doctor, who does not seem to understand the impact of their actions on the lives of her patients.
My wife and I went to see Dr. Prough and was made to feel like a walking dollar sign to them. MCRM is a much better option in Tulsa.
The doctor is very educated, nice, and professional. His tone and demeanor acts like he really cares about you, and he does not oush you to do anything you're not comfortable with.
Him and his staff are amazing and made our dreams come true!
Dr. McKinney and her staff top notch, they go above and beyond in the world of medical care for their patients. I would not have wanted to be in anyone else's hands during our fertility treatments. Would recommend this facility and staff to anyone.
Dr. McKinney and her staff are top notch. They go above and beyond for their patients. She is personable, wise and knows how to get her patients through tough times. The entire fertility clinic was excellent I am sad they won't be delivering our baby.
We have a beautiful 8 year old daughter thanks to the help of Dr. Prough. It wasn't an "easy" IVF but he is truly an expert and I wouldn't have gone to anyone else.
I would encourage anyone who is thinking about going to Dr. McKinney or becoming a patient of Tulsa Fertility to research their IVF protocols compared to other clinics. We did not have a positive experience, and I think had I really looked at their embryologist, IVF protocols, and SART ratings, I would have driven the extra few hours to go to a clinic with a better embryology lab and higher success ratings.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
