John H Tu's Online Review Report Card

I saw this doctor for hives on my face, and he said I had one of two things . . one treatable, the other I would die. If the second, he said all my organs would fail including me going blind. He took a biopsy and told me it would be a week before knowing the results. The wait almost took me over the edge! I went for my results, and he said that I had eczema. There is more, but I am done. I would NOT go to this doctor!

Dr. Tu has NO bedside manner. He is curt and frankly rude. He berated me for having a needle phobia and having piercings by saying things like "it is alot easier than what you DID TO YOURSELF." I got it guy, you don't like piercings and don't understand phobias. I tried to lighten the mood by tell him he had a neat pen and he ignored me, marked the incision area and walked out and then came back when I was numb, did the procedure and left. If this gets infected I'd rather have a piece of my body rot off than have to be subjected to him again. I hear other doctors in the office are excellent. If you can deal with curt, brash and cold then keep your appointment with him. However if you want to be put at ease and see someone who has more personality than a rotting steak under a dumpster in an alley way, steer clear of this guy.

Dr Tu rushed through surgery to remove a mole from my back. He never checked to see if/where I was numbed. I cried while being stitched because he did not care that he was working outside the numbed area. He was in a huge hurry to catch a plane, and his nurse was flustered. Throughout surgery, he criticized the "other provider" at his practice and his poor method of stitching. Well, I know exactly who he was criticizing... I am neither deaf nor stupid. What an unprofessional, uncaring person. My surgery was clearly an inconvenience to him. He was unprofessional, impersonal and impolite. (Oh, and Dr Tu, you could warn your patients before you touch them, either with your hands or with surgical instruments, especially if they cannot see you. A little bit of direct communication with your patient will go a long way. We are PEOPLE.)

This is a doctor who knows everything, to the point of not being able to listen and learn. I assume he thinks he exudes confidence (and, perhaps, he does indeed, know everything). However, serious mistakes can occur if there is not an attempt to listen and understand the client. I certainly will need another opinion before I know if he had talent.
