Dr. Truong is extremely compassionate and kind with her patients

I have been under the care of Dr. Truong for the last year, as she performed my double mastectomy in June 2017. There are so many wonderful things I can say. She is an amazing surgeon, is straight forward and is very easy to understand. She takes the time to answer my questions, no matter how small, and is very caring and supportive. I am blessed to have her in my life, and on my care team.

Very dismissive. Spoke very.... slowly... and did not listen. I could see that we would have a hard time communicating effectively and being on the same team. She has her canned info, she wants to tell you and did not demonstrate any openness to trying to save tissue (ie. automatically assumed I must have mastectomy.) I went elsewhere and had a very good result. Complete response to chemo massively shrank my tumor, enabling lumpectomy. Going elsewhere was right for me and I ended up feeling "whole" which was so much better.

It was a waste of time and money. She seemed to have her mind made up, and she actually never saw me before.

She was friendly and professional, but the trouble really started after my procedure. I had been told that the procedure was approved by my insurance company, so we went ahead with the surgery. I'm not entirely happy with the outcome of my surgery--it didn't completely resolve the issue, but that's really just the icing on the cake. I came to find out about six months later that my insurance company had never received everything they needed in order to approve the procedure. So Dr Truong and her staff told me that the procedure was approved, and booked my surgery, even though they had never gotten an approval from my insurance company. I've been trying to resolve this between my insurance, Dr Truong's office, and the billing department for a year and a half now, and Dr. Truong's staff isn't making the process any easier. I've left countless voicemails and messages over the past year for Dr Truong's medical assistant, Andy, and I haven't received a single call back. The only time I was able to speak to her directly was when I called her before she saw her first patient of the day. Otherwise, if you leave her a voicemail, don't expect a response. Now it's a year and a half later, the hospital billing department has been hounding me down for $18,000, and Dr. Truong's office has been so slow in helping me resolve it, that this has now been reported to a credit agency. Even if we do get the procedure approved retroactively by my insurance company, Dr Truong's office's oversight has significantly impacted my credit score, which is an effect I will feel for several years to come. I was really hoping we could resolve the issue before it came to this, but they have left me no choice but to begin talking to a lawyer.

Dismissive and patronizing; spoke very slowly. Did not seem to see nuances of what kind of treatment I could undergo (and did so elsewhere successfully). Appeared to have very rigid thinking. Did not answer several of my medical questions. I could not go forward with working with her. Would not send a friend or family member here, unfortunately, as I had hoped.

Dr. Truong was wonderful. She was very understanding and answered all of my questions. I left her office feeling confident with my decision. Her staff was amazing as well.

I was sent to Dr. Truong in October 2012 to have a biopsy after having a yearly mammogram. I never expected to hear that I had breast cancer, but I did. The phone call came from Dr. Truong and I was able to get in to see her the next day to go over the results so I didn't have to wait and suffer to hear how bad it was. The initial diagnosis, tests and surgery were very scary, but Dr. Truong explained everything in detail even drawing pictures to make sure we understood. She is a very caring doctor and has an excellent bedside manner. My husband and I were very comfortable with her which made a big difference while going through this process and getting through the surgery and the final pathology report. I am very thankful that I was referred to Dr. Truong and would recommend her to anyone.
