John D. Wilkinson Md's Online Review Report Card

This Doctor told my husband that, “he was nothing but a waste of space and should just give up and that he was doing nothing but putting a strain on government dollars.” He should be fired!

I can relate to previous comments that have been made about this man. My husband was in Integris Baptist on NW Expressway, diagnosed with terminal cancer. They moved him out of ICU to a regular room when we decided to go with hospice. Unfortunately, Wilkinson was the hospitalist. At one point, he came into my husband’s room to make sure we understood what hospice was all about. (We already knew...they are going to make you comfortable until you die. The hospice social worker had already explained what their services were about.) He told us he knew of so many families with a loved one on hospice that call the ambulance when something goes bad and it just extends the suffering of the one who is dying. He told us that it wouldn’t be a “warm and fuzzy” experience. I couldn’t believe a doctor was saying that. I told him we weren’t under any misconception that it would be that way while my husband was shaking his head in agreement. Shame on you Integris for keeping this cold -hearted ghoul on your staff!

Dr. Wilkinson is currently caring for my family member (for privacy reasons, we will call Sam) who is in bad shape but there's still hope. Wilkinson strongly urged Sam's spouse to give up all hope and minimize life saving care. He told Sam's spouse that countinuing medical treatment was a waste of government money. (Sam is on disability, and received Medicare but also has private insurance!) He also said Sam MIGHT have a lower quality of life if Sam survives. Wilkinson kept pushing Sam's spouse to give up on Sam. Sam's spouse told Wilkinson they would be taking several days to make a decision. Thankfully Wilkinson will be off Sam's rotation soon. What a rude, heartless, compassionless, jerk! Wilkinson, with all due respect, you need to brush up on your bedside manners and try some positive thinking. Not everyone would be disappointed with being alive and in a wheelchair....not everyone would rather die than be able to walk without assistance. I wonder how many weaker families you have urged to let go of their family member who could have made it. You sir make me sick! Time for you to retire and get out of the medical field!

Extremely rude. Uncaring.

Wilkinson is an arrogant careless quack who has little regard for his patients or their families.
