MIchael Mastrangelo's Online Review Report Card

I was inpatient for a severe condition and had an anaphylactic reaction to medication that went unreconized by staff. Dr Mastrangelo was called in to preform an emergency procedure on me and reconized what was happening. My BP was 234/232 by that time. He actually yelled at the hospitalist asking why I was still on this med telling them to stop giving it to me. Weeks later, after my fortunate recovery Dr Mastrangelo did a simple procedure that has helped me for several yrs since. It does not assure I will never have another pancreatic attack but it has definately helped. He saved my life & he is the best in his field!

I will give Dr. Mastrangelo 5 stars for the surgical repair of my hernia, it seems to have turned out well. As for his communication I wasn't as pleased....maybe 2 stars. On both visits he spent very little time with me....maybe 5 minutes. I never saw that he had a nurse...just a receptionist. He asked me what type of surgery I wanted (laproscopic, robotic, etc). I told him that he needs to tell me as he is the doctor. He also did not seem to have much understanding for patients who are in good physical condition and want to get back to exercising as soon as they can.

I had been dealing with 2 types of hernias for about 3 yrs. Another surgeon said it was no problem but she never even examined me. They were getting worse and more painful when the nurse doing my ultrasound suggested Dr. Mastrangelo. Thank God! He repaired both hernias and I healed up without a problem.

I would not return to see this doctor to have a band-aid replaced. Terrible experience.

Supposedly he is a great Dr., but good luck if you have to deal with his office staff. Rude, unhelpful, and makes trying to see him not worth it.

Dr. Mastrangelo was knowledgable and patient with all of my questions and concerns. Plus, he was very accommodating to a last minute hiccup at the Bend hospital and follow-up in Redmond. My open surgery for a double hernia/abdominal wall reconstruction was a success overall and I'm so grateful for his help!

I was seen be this doctor a year or so ago for hiatal hernia surgery. I saw him one time and was sent for a barium swallow test. I did that test and his office was suppose to schedule me for some additional testing in his office. When I didn't hear anything back I called the office and was told there was only I person in central Oregon that performed that test and they were out on leave. They assured me they would call me and get me in for the test so I could move forward with with the hernia repair. Its been well over a year now and still no call. Very poor care.

Dr. Mastrangelo did hernia surgery on my husband. He is such a great doctor, he really cares about his patients! I am glad that he is in Central Oregon.

I was referred to Dr. Mastrangelo by my Primary Doctor after a bad experience with a different surgeon a few months before. I am so glad that she referred me, the office staff called me the same day to schedule a consultation less than a week later. I felt like Dr. Mastrangelo explained everything, answered all of my questions and gave me clear options. Whitney and all of the office staff were amazing and I look forward to their assistance in the future!
