Wonderful, knowledgeable and kind doctor.
Office never calls back. Doctor charts during appointment and gives barely any recognition. Placed false diagnostics in my chart after appointment.
If you are really ill, with serious, multiple medical issues, you have a much better chance at staying alive, in this area, if you are fortunate enough to be able to see Dr B Patel. He's really really really smart, even for a hospitalist. In addition he has a sense of humor not often found in contemporary western medicine. His degrees MS and MD basically means his medical science training is very ...
good bed side manner and accuracy in diagnosis has vast knowledge
Dr, Patel fired me after I went to Eugene and had back surgery. Dr. Patel did my pre-op physical and knew I was going to Eugene for surgery. I was in surgery for 5 hours and in the hospital for 5 days and because I was given pain medicine while in the hospital he said that was against the contract I had for him to get pain medicine from him. I also had a rash on the palms of my hands which had cracked and was bleeding. He misdiagnosed me, I was diagnosed with PsA later by a NP.
I met Dr B. Patel when I went to Bay Area Hospital with my aunt to remove her husband from life support. Dr Patel impressed me with his kindness and the understanding way he dealt with the entire emotional situation. I had just moved back to the Bay Area and was searching for a decent doctor, one who listens rather than judges. I made my first appointment with Dr Patel in the middle of March 2016. I didn't realize at the time his receptionist was a rude, offensive game player. She has regularly treated me like I am less than others and that my wishes in my personal health care don't matter. I have fibromyalgia and a few other pain causing diagnosis. When Erin (Dr Patel's receptionist at North Bend Medical Center) asked why I wanted Dr Patel as a doctor I explained the situation with my aunt and how impressed I was with his bedside manner. I also let Erin know I had picked Dr Patel because he is a pain management doctor. Erin's immediate reply, in an offensive tone of voice, was 'We don't do pain meds!'. I told her I wanted pain management, not cover-up and that I was allergic to pain pills and cannot take them. She asked what medications I was on and I told her. When she heard about my antidepressant she said we don't take care of Mental Health issues and told me, 'You need to find another doctor'. I told her my Mental Health issues were taken care of and Dr Patel didn't need to worry about them. She reiterated that I should find a different doctor. I said no. Since then, every time I have talked to her she has treated me badly. She has set up 4 different appointments with Dr Patel. A week before each appointment she has called and told me Dr Patel would be out of the office and made me wait another month to month and a half for the next appointment. She forced me to make an appointment with Dr Angela Black, who is not a pain specialist. I went in and saw Dr Black. Dr Black is a great doctor and I have no problem what-so-ever with her. She was kind, considerate, and really thorough with the entire appointment. I recommend her to anyone who wants a great doctor. She is not, however, a pain specialist and I require a pain specialist. I am fairly patient, however, I will not put up with a rude, offensive, game player. I called Erin and started to tell her how she was making me feel emotionally and that I was upset because my pharmacy had faxed a nausea medication refill to Dr Patel's office for 3 weeks in a row and they didn't even bother to respond. I asked her why Dr Patel's office didn't call me to ask about my nausea medication. Erin again got offensive and told me it wasn't in my bag of medications on the day I came in for my appointment with Angela Black. I have been diagnosed with Gerd for years, it is in my records. I told her I forgot it on the table when I came in for my appointment and asked again why I was not contacted about the situation. I told her a doctor's relationship with their patients is very important and there has to be a serious give and take for the patients sake. When I was telling her she should have called me so we could deal with this situation she interrupted with a cheerful 'Have a nice day, bye' and hung up while I was in the middle of my sentence. Erin then called my insurance and told them Dr Patel's office would no longer see me and I had to find another doctor. Erin obviously has no business being in a health care situation as she obviously has absolutely no interest in a patient's well-being. I was impressed with Dr Patel, however, his receptionist, Erin, will cause more and more patients to seek other doctors as she is underhanded, sneaky, and rude. If there are other patients out there in the same situation as me, please call North Bend Medical Center's administration and let them know about her work ethics, or lack thereof. If administration does nothing, as they have done with me, call your insurance company. Patients have a complete bill of rights and treatment like this is grounds for a serious talk with someone in charge who will actually do their job. Today is July 14.
He is knowledgeable and he listens to understand my questions and my point of view. He was once late for my appointment and apologized, saying the patient before me was very ill and needed extra time. I said I appreciated that. If I had been the other patient, the extra time could have saved my life.
The front desk receptionist is rude and she thinks she has the right to talk down, berate, and dismiss being called on her mistakes. While in the waiting room and exam rooms she can be over heard speaking rudely to the patients. If you don't mind being treated like a child by a child then by all means keep your appointment.
He is caring and very thorough. My family has been very happy with him as our doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
