List of Steven Shimotakahara's Reviews
Dr Shimotakahara did my recent sinus surgery. He is a typical specialist. Fairly unremarkable. He evaluates with a quick exam & notes the primary complaint. Expect him to be impersonal. He will address your one or two specific issues & make a treatment plan/surgical plan quickly. Don’t expect to have a long, drawn out conversation with him about your concerns. He’s busy & he’s decent at what he does…he’s been at it for decades. He’s not going to make friends with you. He’s in medicine FOR PROFIT. Pre-payment on his surgical services is required. Again, don’t expect warm fuzzy feelings. I also found it difficult reaching his clinic staff when I needed help. It’s most often an answering service taking calls. I give him the average 3 stars.
I've never been to Him And I'm very thankful that I didn't or haven't had to go to him and I found a way nicer ear doctor at north bend medical center Dr.Christianson. The reason I had to speak to this ear doctor instead is because he was on call for ear doctors and I asked him how he was and he paused and roodly said I'm good what can I do for u. I told him the issues and asked him if that's normal and he said I don't know you will have to call your doctor in the a.m. he's not nice at all I'm sure his demeanor in person and bedside manner is even worse!
The Dr. is good, I like him. He seems to understand ears quite well and has resolved several issues for me quite promptly that other Dr.s seemed to be very clueless about. However, appointments are difficult to get or cancel or change. They use a robot to call your house, can't talk to a robot as it's not programmed to listen or respond. Calling office gets voicemail with similar results. A human should be answering the phone.
I was very disappointed with my treatment by Dr. Shimotakahara. I had heard great things from other patients which is why I chose to go to him to resolve my sinus & breathing issues. It took a long time to schedule each appointment so when I did get in to see him I was incredibly dismayed with the lack of time & attention he gave me. One visit he told me I had a large issues that required surgery but the next visit his diagnosis had completely changed! (There were no new scans or tests or any treatments in between the 2 visits to cause him to change his opinion.) The final straw for me was that he was too busy texting & chatting with his buddy, checking the surf report for the afternoon, to pay any attention to my questions or provide me with any confidence in the things that he did say (which wasn't much). I have since found another ENT who has completely resolved all of my issues with great compassion, speed, & professionalism. Perhaps retirement is the right choice here!
He has served me & my family for 29 years. He is excellent!
in 2010 i had an emergency visit into the E.R. which ended up with having a piece of titanium and 4 screws and wired jaw from a broken and fractured jaw. On call was shimotakahara who performed the surgery that i went under. 5 weeks later he had me return to BAH to remove the wires from my jaw. again i went under surgery. recently i have become aware that he had installed an inner ear cochlear implant,. nano. EMP. in my left ear canal. i did not authorize it or been made aware by him. I have found out that he maliciously did so for the use of electronic stalking and harrasement. He did this for a 2nd party by the name of theresa collier. federal employee at BLM. age 50. 3rd party gail yost, whom which assisted in the connection . To link all that was needed . this could be a shock to you stephen so heres your notice before your warrant,7
Outstanding! Just wanted to say THANK YOU Doc! You and yours are welcome at my camp fire anytime hope you are doing well your friend William gyparis.
Went with my elderly mother who had hearing loss while in the hospital after a fall caused by balance problems. In the patient office there was a large poster titled “Ears are the organs of balance”. I asked him about ears and balance and he said, “I can’t do anything about that”. I mentioned the poster and he didn’t reply. I tried one more time at the end of the appointment. I asked “How do ears help with balance?” After all, that was why we were there. He said “That’s for another time.” I will not be going back and would not recommend.
He examined and diagnosed me quickly while dismissing most of my concerns about further investigation . I hope he is right (swollen TMJ), caused by sleep bruxism, though I know I don't grind my teeth in my sleep. Other than that he was dutifully friendly though somewhat abrupt and lacked much beside manner. It seemed like he had too many patients to see in too short a time, overbooked, so I can't blame him for having to move quickly to get to the next patient. Just too many patients and not enough time at North Bend Med. Cntr.
The worst phone/office staff imaginable. All calls go to voice mail, and messages are not returned. They seem to take 1 hour 45 minute lunch; and take Friday afternoons off. The scheduler speaks in slang. Everything affirmative is YEP or she uses NOPE. Most unprofessional. Finally went elsewhere.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
