Dr. Shapiro did shoulder surgery for me after injury from a car crash 2.5 years before. We did appropriate conservative treatment for over a year: PT, shots. I tried so hard to heal without surgery, but a small tear, impingement, and tendonosis continued to plague my movement. I am still healing 4 months later, but I can tell already that I have been rebuilt better than I was before! Dr. Shapiro took the time to explain things carefully and clearly. The very first time I saw him he asked what happened in the crash. I was afraid of shots, and afraid of surgery, but he made me feel safe.

Dr. Shapiro permanently ended years of shoulder pain when he repaired my rotator cuff and other damaged areas of my shoulder. I had the surgery five years ago and my shoulder feels like new. Shortly after surgery Dr. Shapiro was blunt in his warning about what would happen if I didn’t work hard to rehab the repaired area. I was told what I’d have to do on a prolonged rehab plan and five years later my shoulder is like new. It took some months and PT at Oregon Spine and PT before it felt normal again and since then it’s been strength building. I hope I won’t need another orthopedic surgery but Dr. Shapiro is definitely the doc I’ll go back to.

I saw Dr. Shapiro for knee pain that was diagnosed as osteoarthritis. He was kind, professional and went over my options. I felt valued and respected.

I really appreciate the fact that Dr. Shapiro doesn’t just dive into surgery he wants to make sure the patient it’s physically able and ready for surgery in my situation he wanted to make sure I had a good range of motion and my shoulder wasn’t stiff before we go through surgery because of the outcome of surgery you’re going to be stiff and he wanted to make sure I’m not stiff before I go I really appreciate that

All in all, it was a very pleasant visit, especially knowing that I had the clear choice of opting out of surgery to achieve the same goals with physical therapy and exercise. Thank You!
