List of Kent W Dauterman's Reviews
It's been ten years since I've seen Dr. Dauterman, and I have only seen him twice. I established with the doctor the knowledge base of my health and what medical procedures were acceptable for me and he was very respectful of my personal decisions. I would see him again if need be.
Rude and Arrogant Asked me what I had been doing the past 3 years, as I had not been to see him, and then told me, "Now shut up and listen to me." I had not been to see him in three years due to his prior arrogant demeanor.
Knowledgeable but horrible bedside/communication I took my 97-year-old father to his visit. Dr. Dauterman had "squeezed" us in because his office had rescheduled my dad's appointment the evening before without effectively communicating that AND without checking that it was okay (it was not because Dad and I both had to travel far). We were informed that Dad had missed 2 appointments when we arrived at what we thought was the correct time for his appointment. Dr. Dauterman had failed to confirm the first appt with his assistant, so it was on the books but no one had informed us of the time/date. The second was the one that we were reportedly 2 hours late for. I work in a medical field and found Dr. Dauterman to be very knowledgeable in his field. That being said, he was brutally honest with my dad in a manner I felt was unkind and unnecessary. I watched Dad's hope die when told he did not expect Dad to be around come Christmas, which my dad dwelt on every day until he died in November. See a different doctor if you can.
I had been written off by 3 cardiologists, given a short time to live, because I had refused open-heart surgery. Dr. Dauterman, and his awesome staff, inspired my confidence. Two years ago he performed only his second carotid TAVR and replaced my heart valve. Within a few days, I was back to a normal routine. Now, at 81, I feel years younger. I can take walks and climb stairs again. Medford is fortunate to have such a talented surgeon.
I would not refer him. He missed that I was given too small an aortic valve, replacement for congenital heart defect, resulting in patient-prosthetic mismatch (PPM), that caused more damage to rest of heart and congestive heart failure. He also “fat shamed me” and blamed all my symptoms on being overweight. I was evaluated at OHSU, Baylor Texas Heart Institute, and U of Colorado Health where I underwent 5 hrs of second open heart surgery to get a larger aortic valve and procedures to stop atrial fib., and fix an aneurysm. I now feel great, no longer have to use oxygen, no longer have A fib, and kidney function has improved. Hopefully, my heart will continue to heal and undo damage caused by too small of valve. This doctor missed all this and did not take me seriously for 3 years. . It was a bad experience. I would not recommend him or Asante.
Horrible, arrogant, narcissistic. Never explained why I needed to be taking heart medication that started making me bald! Hair coming out by the handful. Unbelievable!
I have been Dr. Dauterman's patient for 4 years. He is thorough and responsive to his patients needs and is communicative. Based on my experience as his patient I would have absolutely no hesitancy in recommending him.
Gave 5 prescriptions and did not explain 2 of them. Unclear feedback on symptomology and questions. Angiogram suggested but second opinion doctor said such an invasive test was not needed. That test revealed no need for treatment. 4 years later I am still symptom-free.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
