List of Patrick J. Phelan's Reviews
Rude. uncaring, and the first doctor I have ever heard bad mouth other doctors if they had a different opinion. He talked to us like we were trash. My husband is in his late 70's and is still affected by how this exam went and the future. Now what? He really needed some compassion as my husband is in horrible fear and is needing major surgery. All these surgeons work together in this practice so have nowhere to go but the graveyard? We have no choice and hope he is a better surgeon than he is a person we will pray he sees this and will care that people need him to show some kind of humanity. He does listen which is comforting and I am sure he is a fine surgeon but his responses and obvious disdain for his patients are awful. Don't need to be his buddy or overkill but maybe a smile or good to meet you would make people feel a lot less stressed. His nurse Heather made the whole exam doable, professional but with the first hello and smile, we felt welcome until enters.
Dr. Phelan is a capable, straightforward surgeon. He thoroughly explains things and is professional. I don't need my surgeon to be a friend, I need him to do his job with precision, which is what he demonstrated in my own procedure. I would recommend him to a family member.
Dr. Phelan has performed 2 surgeries on me and I couldn’t be happier. He is a good doctor.
My son had his appendix removed by Dr. Phelan. I felt very comfortable. Would definitely recommend
I recently had emergency Gall Bladder Surgery removal on May 14, 2019. I was assigned the on call surgeon, so I was a little concerned. Although when I met Dr. Phelan, my mind was at ease. I work in the medical field, and I was very pleased with the knowledge that he demonstrated, his professional approach. The surgery was more complicated than most due to the condition of my gall bladder. I went into the hospital in severe pain. I felt that my patient care was managed well, and Dr. Phelan came across as concerned and caring. Surgeons are usually very, very busy and need to focus on the medical issue at hand, in order to spend as much time assessing and evaluating the medical treatment that is needs to take place. I felt he was to the point and professional at the same time. Surgeons do not have time to chit chat a great deal and it can be distracting to them while they are trying to make a treatment plan. I am going back to him on May 31st for follow up.
Treated me and my husband as if we were stupid. Drew cartoons instead of showing us my scan. Dr Phelan made me feel hopeless and dismissed. He is the Most uncaring doctor I have ever seen anywhere. (In the past I have seen several other doctors in this organization and thought they were outstanding. I didn't select Dr. Phelan.) With the help of my wonderful GP doctor who never gives up; we selected another surgeon and are very happy with the direction, kindness and great outcome.
A little bit impersonal for me. Very good at explaining procedures and risks and answered all questions.
First time ever going under local Anesthesia and having a major surgery. I couldn't have asked for a better team to help calm my fears and get me through this scary time and home to my babies. Thank you Dr. Phelan!
Fine bedside manner.
Dr. Phelan recently demonstrated a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and bad judgment. Through one mistake, he created significant and unnecessary trauma for me. Otherwise I believe he is a capable surgeon who simply needs to take some classes in communication. If this site allowed longer comments I would summarize the entire experience.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
