List of Active Recovery Tms's Reviews
I was hopeful that TMS would help relieve the symptoms of my severe, treatment resistant depression and complex PTSD. However the staff at this clinic proved to be incompetent, emotionally abusive and manipulative. I felt that I was re-traumatized by this experience and again I feel hopeless. Don't waste your time or money looking for help here.
They charged my card 500.00 and told me that my insurance company was unactive 4/1/2023. I started with them in May. My insurance was active and if it wasn't why wait until September. I have insurance. It's a lie. I nolonger trust this company. I'm glad I'm not a suicidal patient. This has caused me a lot of anxiety though. 500.00 is a lot of money.
I wrote a blistering review of this place, and just noticed they got it taken down! They deserve negative a million stars. This place was TERRIBLE! Unsafe in staff not properly adhering to mask mandate in summer of 2021. Unethical. I wrote a really long review documenting the problems very carefully, and now it's gone because yelp deleted the review at their request. I will have to find another copy of the review and re-post it here. But the fact that Active Recovery got it taken down tells you a lot about it -- let alone that they track their social media and then are so able to manipulate it in their favor. I documented: Staff not always wearing masks, and rushing to put them on when they saw me. Repeatedly, even after I made a complaint about it higher up the chain when they didn't respond to my concern. Overhearing staff talking about patients while in waiting room -- gossipy though not bad in and of itself, just breaking confidentiality and HIPAA for a patient being able to overhear them. (The once who do the actual treatment are med technicians, not nurses or doctors, so thereby had no medical training aside from how to use machine from company who makes them. So didn't have basic knowledge of med norms and laws for treatment) New PNP who clearly knew nothing about the treatment and deferred to technician when calibrating the machine to me (she carried the machine manual with her into the room and tried to hide that she was looking at it.) Insist I sign a consent form that was patently false to continue in the intake process -- saying I was told by a practitioner all the risks and benefits of the treatment, when the only place I received this info was in the consent form itself (I'm sure this one is the one that they were most concerned about after I complained to my insurance company, outlined more below.) The worst, or most stressful, was their completely flubbing the insurance. Beyond belief flubbing. Organization literally a dozen times over months and months telling me they were covered by my insurance when they weren't. I probably spoke to six different staff people over time -- another problem being that you couldn't contact the staff directly, but went through a answering service that would always connect you with whomever was there. Anyway, it shows that there wasn't any place where 'the buck stops here.' I had to call my insurance company over and over too, each time confirming Active Recovery wasn't in network. Yet Active Recovery assured me over and over they were, and I had finally had them send me documentation of this, and those they sent showed THEY WEREN'T covered (TWICE! In two different documents!), but they didn't even know this because they didn't read their own paperwork! Even after I told them -- repeated -- this fact, they told me they were. Over and over, even when I sent them back their own paperwork highlighting where it said they weren't covered! So I never had insurance process claims, and so they owed me my total deductable because they got that up front, so i was out 2500$. I called them about this repeatedly, and they ignored me until MONTHS after my treatment I made a formal complaint to my insurance company about them (remember they weren't covered by the insurance.) Then suddenly I received a check because clearly they were afraid of being sued. THis was SO frustrating and not something you want to deal with when majorly depressed. The treatment didn't work on me at all, which MAY NOT indicate they did anything wrong in terms of that, but now impossible to tell. With all the problems, I will always wonder if they did it right. Anyway, it was awful, insulting, unprofessional and frankly unethical. Money grubbing. A-holes. Don't go here!
Dr. Horey and the team couldn't have been more caring and compassionate through a difficult time for me. I will always be grateful for the support they provided, and the lengths they went to in helping me get the best care possible. Above and beyond.
The staff here are some of the nicest, most competent people I've had the pleasure to be treated by. Everyone, including the assistants, has a genuine interest in the patient's mental health. The technology itself is borderline miraculous and took me down from moderate-severe depression to barely mild. Plus, the entire treatment was covered by my OHP plan and I had no side effects whatsoever. Big thanks to Dr. Horey, Mary, Alex, Jordan, Daniela and the rest of the team.
If you have Medicaid, you will do a ton of paperwork, as will your providers in hopes of alleviating deep depression and then you will spend the next year and a half calling these people to "approve your paperwork." They are such bullshit. They never ever ever get back to you, and are such dicks because of that. A wait time of over a year is obscenely disrespectful and unacceptable, especially after jumping through all the government and insurance hoops that take 6 months. This place doesn't care about poor patients and pays them no attention or any consideration.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
