Andre Barkhuizen's Online Review Report Card

I was referred to the Clinic through Providence. When I called to ask questions Michelle made me feel like I was a thorn in her side,not a good way to start. Second I did get my referral to the office within a days time. I asked her II could get an appointment and she said Dr. Barkhuizen would have to read over note s and get back to me. I did ask as to whether I could make an appointment and she said very short, no not until the doctor looks over it. I didn't hear ,we will call you or nothing. Its been 7 days weekend included and no word. Arthritis is painful and when we look to health professions and seek guidance its very disappointing to be treat like this.

I'm sure he's a fine doctor for people without prior conditions. Unfortunately I have to warn anyone with diagnosed mental health issues away. He had no interest in my physical symptoms upon learning I had PTSD and bipolar disorder, even though my physical symptoms were unrelated to those conditions. Instead, he diagnosed me with fibromyalgia even though I have no fibro symptoms, because that fit with his preconception of what someone with PTSD suffers. I had already been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and was asking about comorbidity. He will think you're hysterical and tell you to go to therapy about it. If you're neurotypical, you're probably fine.

I have been with Dr. Barkhuizen now for several years and recommend to all I know with RA. He is great! Listens, and works with each person to get them where they need to be. works with you regarding your health care. Honest about not knowing something and he's encouraging to help you research what is going on with your body.

Dr Barkhuizen is caring, thorough and an excellent diagnostician. He isn't a cookie cutter doctor. He thinks for himself. He's independent, not part of a huge clinic. That's VERY IMPORTANT because he makes his own rules. So if you need strong pain meds he is not afraid to give you a script for what you need!!

I was referred to Dr Barkhuizen for joint pain and fatigue around 2 years ago. He peppered me with questions, didn't allow me talk, basically threatened me with treatments like chemo if I "wanted" to be told I have Lupus. I told him I WANTED to find out what was wrong with me, not an unnecessary diagnosis. It was every patient's worst nightmare. He made me feel like a hypochondriac and I left in tears, never to return. I have Ehlers Danlos, PoTS and MCAS; not hypochondria.

I visited him in 1998 and he diagnosed my condition, Fibromyalgia. I felt he was very kind and professional.

Dr Barkhuizen is caring, answers questions, takes his time going over health changes and new plan of care. He is very professional as well as his staff. His nurse is great.

Excellent physician. He is always up to date on treatment options. Dr. B is positive and thoughtful and listens attentively to my concerns. I feel like I am part of every decision. I have recovered a lot of my functional living skills while still battling chronic pain and, I feel like I will continue to improve. His office staff are warm and caring and the clinic atmosphere is pleasant.

Dr. Barkhuizen has been providing a steady, reasonable, and insightful guide to my healthcare. I have chronic pain and with Dr. Barkhuizen's help I am managing to not only stay on an even keel, but reduce my anxiety and continue to move forward towards my health goals.  He is non-judgmental and always has a kind word, an easy manner and good ideas for improving my quality of life.  He has exceptional staff and there is an overall calm and positive atmosphere to the clinic.

I am a young adult dealing with the onset of an autoimmune arthritis, he took time to go over all my symptoms/went over everything that could have cause the onset of it and then took his time educating my husband and I on the differ types of autoimmune arthritis.
