James Davitt, was the on-call ER orthopedist, at St. Vincent's Hospital and performed a hip replacement after my femoral neck shattered. The surgery he performed on my hip was so badly executed (and chronically painful) that I visited another orthopedist who told me that my hip could "fail catastrophically at any time," and that consequently I needed to undergo a second surgery requiring new hip protheses. Why would someone who specializes in foot surgery even attempt to do a hip replacement when there was plenty of time to find a qualified specialist the next day? Moreover, he required $10 for his signature on an employer form that stated how long I would be away from work, even though he was receiving thousands of dollars for the procedure. This was some time ago, so I don't know if that's still the policy.

Excellent! Dr. Davitt is patient and extremely knowledgeable. After a very severe break, Dr. Davitt was able to clearly explain the fracture, the necessary surgery, and the recovery process. He answered all of my questions and performed a repair of my ankle. I'm still recovering from the surgery, but he & his staff are extremely responsive. O&F is a busy practice but Dr. Davitt always takes the time he needs to, never rushed, in order to ensure my questions are answered & I feel informed about my injury.

Dr Davitt is a great surgeon and a wonderful person . explains insights and risk clearly and take good care. Awesome experience so far with my ankle surgery and his team . looking forward to rest of recovery ❤️ process . Definitely recommend dr 👨⚕️ in Portland area .

Dr. Davitt, and his resident, took a lot of time listening to my troubles with my foot & Achilles. We came up with a recovery plan, and all the tools needed to assist with recovery were provided.

Dr. Davitt was very professional in understanding my ankle condition and outlining the necessary steps to correct the situation. He came highly recommended and lived up to my expectations.

Dr. Davitt, and his medical assistant, spent a good amount of time figuring out what was causing my foot & Achilles pain. We came up with a recovery plan, and I was fitted for brace and insoles while there. I’m hopeful I will soon be back to my normal activities.

Sometime ago I had bunion surgery plus correcting big toe slipping under second toe. I no longer have a bunion but balance has been adversely affected as big toe still under second toe.
