Update: Do your Due Diligence. I was contacted by the person who runs the site and he explained that therapists can create profiles on this site whenever they want and take them down whenever they want. This answer leads me to believe they don’t stand behind the therapists on their site; it’s simply a directory of therapists in the area. PLEASE make sure you research the therapists independently before choosing one. Portland Therapy Center does not employ anyone; they are simply a directory of therapists in the area. My daughter chose a therapist JUSTIN ANDERSON from this clinic to begin family therapy with us. From the beginning there were things that made me feel uncomfortable and that I had never-in all my years of participating in family therapy both as an adult and a child came across. First, while I know there has to be a designated client for insurance reasons; however this therapist took that to the extreme. Mind you this was FAMILY THERAPY and he immediately wanted me to agree that this therapy was not for me, about me, meant to benefit me-nor would he actively support me in terms of safety, feeling comfortable, or ensuring that I’m not harmed during the therapeutic process. I did not sign that form. I still agreed to go to sessions in which this therapist asserted that his style would be to interrupt us. At the time he made it sound like it would be to “keep us on track” but it became clear that he would interrupt to manipulate the situation. I did not feel comfortable discussing adult subjects that I felt were impacting the relationship and he refused to speak with me alone without my minor child present. Both of us participating in this process have significant mental health challenges as well as autism and he refused to consult my minor child’s previous healthcare records. All the years of services we’ve had-he wanted nothing to do with them even as she was actively using the maladaptive behavior in our sessions. He made no differentiation between the parent/child dynamic and treated us as though we were equals with equal authority in the relationship and then would scold and chastise me for treating her like “my peer”. When I asked for clarification he refused. I asked if he’d be willing to speak with my individual therapist so I could have clarity on what he felt my issues were and he refused. He also over shared that he was in the same situation as I was-his daughter wasn’t talking to him and he felt that’s why he could help me. Which was counterintuitive to me-if he had an unsuccessful and unstable relationship with his own daughter why would I want him in my relationship with mine? He was condescending towards me in our sessions and I felt increasingly triggered by his behavior. After lengthy discussions with my therapist, researching online about how you know if a therapist isn’t a good fit and when should you find a new therapist, as well as speaking with the Behavioral Health Professional at my primary care clinic, it became obvious it was dangerous to see this person. I calmly let him know in session as well as let my daughter know I would see anyone else she chose. His reaction, clearly due to countertransference from his own relationship with his daughter, as well as his ego, was to manipulate the line of questioning not to encourage my daughter to choose to continue therapy with a therapist we both felt safe and comfortable with; but to stop if I didn’t want to continue with him. That he was the only one who could help us. This person is dangerous and will not help your relationship. He is clearly not an unbiased helper.
Love Portland Therapy Center. So grateful to have a local option to find clinicians in the area. Great resource!!!!!
The initial consultation for marriage counseling with Lauren Glenn was delayed by an hour because "something came up" at the last minute. We were understanding. After the consult, we made an appointment for the first available appointment that matched our schedules, which happened to be in a few weeks. A little longer wait than we wanted, but we were looking forward to the appointment. The day before the appointment we received an email from Lauren advising that there was a scheduling issue and could we change times. The time slot that she wanted to change the appointment to was a time when we both had told her from the beginning that we could not make because of work. This crushed us. It is hard to make a decision to seek counseling. It is made even worse when you wait for an appointment and then at the last minute it doesn't happen. Add to it that now we have lost precious time to begin working on things and now have to start fresh and find a new therapist. Lauren Glenn's actions are unprofessional and I feel unacceptable in the mental health field.
I'm quite confused why others writing reviews for this organization are writing reviews of individual therapists. The Portland Therapy Center is not an organization that vets their therapists. It isn't a private clinic, or private practice. It is an organization that lists all therapists in Portland. That's it. And for that, it does an excellent job at doing what it is suppose to do: list all therapist in Portland. If folks have a bad experience with a therapist I don't see how that has anything to do with The Portland Therapy Center.
Grace Horowitz scheduled TWO separate intakes with me. The first, she texted four or five hours later after hours and said she had gotten disorganized and rescheduled for the same time the following week - only this time she did not show, nor call or email and it’s been over a week since the appointment was supposed to be. Super unprofessional practice being run here and quite frankly a downright danger to the community. If you’re too disorganized to show up for two appointments at the same time two weeks in a row, maybe a field where people rely on you isn’t the right one. I couldn’t possibly recommend this establishment or Grace to anyone struggling with mental health issues, as urgent care can probably provide more support with their on staff social worker than a therapist that you have to pull teeth with just to never be seen or followed up with.
Terrible experience with Dasia Star. She could not even get my partner's name right and forgot our sessions or continually showed up late. Not a professional and not someone you can trust with your relationship.
Terrible experience with Dasia Star. Not worth my time, energy or money. She could not even get my partner's name right and she forgot our sessions and continually showed up late. Not a professional and not someone you can trust with your relationship.
I just got off the phone with this women asking her a specific pointed baseline question of what issuers aren't dealt with by the therapists. Like a general cencus is obvious. It's what I was after. Well vague answering she kept giving me while telling me after a intake paper is filled out it's pre judged by a group of peoples , (didn't say who these people were) that present it to the therapist, (guessing here) who after reviewing say ok therapy or not. Odd that these therapist allow a controlling review board to pre screen potential clients. Something to think about... A simple question, what area of therapy does this office provide? I wanted to know to help myself. If they could help me and if not, ok.
I thought it was a good idea, and then nearly a dozen friends and colleagues who I had no clue used the service swore by it's convenience and uncanny ability to match you with the right specialists. The amount of time and money I saved in the typically frustrating process of finding the best professional for my particular needs alone has already made this service a winner! Thank you!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
