On travel and ended up needing emergency appendectomy. The staff were all amazing. I was terrified and they were understanding and explained everything what to expect.
Ended up in the ED here last weekend after catching a knife that fell off a cutting board. I had some hard feelings coming back here after getting pretty harshly used by their head endocrinologist, and then caught in a power struggle between the Oregon Clinic hiring an underqualified and pretty useless plastic surgeon to renovate their rented offices in the Professional Plaza. This was after Tina Kotek green-lighted gender affirming surgeries through CareOregon and they let this Schmohawk cut into every transgender person like a naugahyde couch with taxpayer's money. With that said, I suffered the misuse of our state spending in the waiting room. The triage nurses took my vitals like they were changing a flat tire on the Daytona Raceway. They were nice, but I get it. I was in the waiting room and I caught the clientele firsthand. I would have had the same bedside manner. The nurse did wrap my bleeding wound efficiently which made me tough out the rest of the wait. I love my hands. I'm like George Costanza when they tell him that he can be a hand model in Signfeld with my hands. I'm like a brand new Aston Martin owner, but everyday, and with my hands. Nothing is more important to me than the functionality of my hands. I was treated by Dr. Otter and her wonderful group of nurses. She did an exceptional job gluing my hand back and applying the right amount of dissolvable's. I felt like I was at a Minnetonka spa the way they irrigated the wound. It has stayed shut and well on its way to being completely healed. Thank you so much, all of you. Please tell Dr. Skourtis that she is the best too. Actually don't. You don't have to. Happy Holidays! xo
I try this EVERYDAY and it WORKS
Providence had an appointment for me as a new patient that I had to book six months in advance as a new patient. The call center only takes calls from 7:00am to noon, Monday through Friday for patient scheduling. So I called to move the appointment for a work conflict a few days before the appointment. The representative claimed they no longer had any physician availability anywhere in their network even though I had already secured an appointment prior. Additionally, I asked l, “what about my current appointment and wouldn’t that create a space?” and the person said they can no longer can take any more patients. I know the health system is suing the health authority of OR which may be why they do not want to provide care here but this is bizarre. The lead times for appointments, the lack of customer service and the maximization of profits over human life and health has become a health system’s foremost concern. This system needs a full overhaul.
I have unfortunately been to providence during a mental health emergency more than once and to put it bluntly, I was treated like an animal. This last time I went voluntarily. I even helped them strap me into the gurney in the ambulance. I had had plans that I did NOT follow through with and called for help instead. I was completely cooperative. I understood why, upon entering the hospital, I was surrounded by security and nurses, though it is overwhelming. I asked to use the bathroom. I knew someone would have to go with me. Instead the nurse immidiately yanked my pants down and put a bed pan under me. I have ptsd, and even if I didn't, I think it is a normal reaction to pull your pants back up and beg to be allowed to use a toilet like a human being. The nurse started fighting me to get my hands back and thr last thing I remember is having my hands grabbed and pinned and them injecting someone in my neck that caused me to urinate in my pants and pass out. I was then put in a 24 monitored psych hold with one pillow, some apple sauce, and they wouldn't even turn the TV on. After I was able to leave I was able to call Kaiser and actually receive care. Do not trust Providence with your mental health or safety, or with that of your family.
A father missed the birth of his son because he didn't have ID to go back through the emergency door after hours when he was just meeting the food delivery driver. I gave birth to 4 babies at Portland Providence and it was always a great experience (1995, 1997, 2000 and 2003)! Now going through everything as a support person, labor, delivery and postpartum was a disappointing experience... Oh how times have changed!
Can't get any care for my ckd stage 3a through my medicare advantage plan. Primary care says I am fine at egfr 54. I can't see a dietician or nephrologist without her referral even though my insurance says I don't need a referral. But no providence specialist will see you without referral. Nice little catch 22. Thy don't care about patients at all. I have had not one word of advice about my ckd and I have to get all my information from the internet. Just waiting to change to another compamy.
You are a medical facility. Please provide a FRAGRANCE-FREE environment and policy for the health and consideration of patients who have respiratory issues and are sensitive, allergic or have bad reactions to fragrances. Healthcare workers and administrative staff should especially be forbidden from using any fragrances while on duty. Patients & their companions should be encouraged to refrain from using perfume, aftershave & other scented products by providing Information and notification of this fragrance-free policy. It Is the duty of any health care and/or medical facility to provide a safe and healthy environment for ALL patients. I've been requesting this for years and still nothing has been done. This causes me (and other patients) a lot of anxiety & stress. We need your help to provide a safe environment for us.
DECEPTIVE DISHONEST DYSFUNCTIONAL At my emotional and mental lowest, I tried to harm myself fatally, I tried, but it wasn't fatal. I went to Providence Emergency Room in great pain. Because of what I admitted was the cause of my injury, I was immediately placed on a psychiatric hold, and put in a locked ward with eyes on you 24/7 even seeing you on the toilet. Injuries were not treated properly, and while both they and I knew that the problem was a pinched nerve in my neck with extreme pain radiating from there to my upper left arm, they kept saying "we'll try this, we'll try that". Tylenol, oxycodone, tramadol, Percocet lidocaine patches, etc. All this while (ten days) I kept asking for Neurology, Neurosurgeon, anybody with experience with nerve pain. I got more, "we'll try this, we'll try that." I have been Mis-Treated, betrayed, lied to by ALL of the doctors and staff, and am in my 15th day of excruciating pain. To be released after 16 days of extreme pain without proper medical or mental treatment or therapy for my emotional problems. In a bed 23-1/2 hours a day in the only position that didn't cause the pain to get worse. I think I wasn't treated because of more billing$$$ to health insurance with longer stays. If you have hurt yourself intentionally and need medical help. DO NOT go to Providence ER and, most importantly, DO NOT let them put you in Providence Behavioral Health lockup. PLEASE!!! Four and Five star reviews are from staff or their friends or relatives.
This is the worst care I have ever seen. There is so much miscommunication and medical care I'm surprised that there are not more complaints. My husband was in pain for 12 days with them trying medication that didn't have any effect and kept trying to give them to him until he refused. He had to send a message to his neurologist via My Chart to get the proper care and then they cut off his access to his My Chart. They gave him a fork to eat oatmeal and chicken soup. No paper towels or towels to wash hands after going to bathroom. I was a visitor and with all the inconsistency I was very stressed. My husband can't sit up for very long without his neck being in pain but is supposed to attend a all day class for 10 days before he get treatment for neck pain I have told the Social worker numerous times that he can not do this until neck pain is addressed but they fo not listen or care. I think before the Social workers try to teach people to communicate they should try communicating with each other.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
