Providence Psychiatry Clinic East - Portland's Online Review Report Card

All things considered I had pleasant stay here. I was put on medical hold and placed here. Friendly nursing staff, social workers and psychiatrists, nice room and hot meals. Introduced me to mindfulness and goal setting, along with surprisingly peaceful art therapy. This place put me on the path to get mental treatment. I appreciate them and what they do. Highly recommend for those who need assistance.

I try this EVERYDAY and it WORKS

Providence had an appointment for me as a new patient that I had to book six months in advance as a new patient. The call center only takes calls from 7:00am to noon, Monday through Friday for patient scheduling. So I called to move the appointment for a work conflict a few days before the appointment. The representative claimed they no longer had any physician availability anywhere in their network even though I had already secured an appointment prior. Additionally, I asked l, “what about my current appointment and wouldn’t that create a space?” and the person said they can no longer can take any more patients. I know the health system is suing the health authority of OR which may be why they do not want to provide care here but this is bizarre. The lead times for appointments, the lack of customer service and the maximization of profits over human life and health has become a health system’s foremost concern. This system needs a full overhaul.

You are a medical facility. Please provide a FRAGRANCE-FREE environment and policy for the health and consideration of patients who have respiratory issues and are sensitive, allergic or have bad reactions to fragrances. Healthcare workers and administrative staff should especially be forbidden from using any fragrances while on duty. Patients & their companions should be encouraged to refrain from using perfume, aftershave & other scented products by providing Information and notification of this fragrance-free policy. It Is the duty of any health care and/or medical facility to provide a safe and healthy environment for ALL patients. I've been requesting this for years and still nothing has been done. This causes me (and other patients) a lot of anxiety & stress. We need your help to provide a safe environment for us.

I just wanted to say thanks to all the providers that took care of me before during and after my surgery. You guys were amazing and simply the best. Thank you so much there is not enough words to describe how greatful I am.

All of these reviews are fake. Providence health system provides sick care and profits off of managing your diseases for life and has no interest in food as medicine or treating underlying causes.

Whoever answered the phone today was very disrespectful. I said I was looking for a specific service, for context I am a young woman, they cut me off and told me they don’t have talk therapy there, which is not at all what I was looking for. I was looking for a service specifically listed on their website unrelated to talk therapy, but the employee heard my voice and dismissed me as not looking for any serious help. They were very dismissive and unhelpful, and seemed mad they had to answer the phone at all.

After coming here for a bit I’m a little surprised by the negative reviews. I found the staff to be helpful and earnest. From the receptionists to the social workers, groups therapists, and psychiatrist I’m seeing. I have been seeing Dr Shaw and gotta say he’s hands down the most helpful psychiatrist I’ve ever seen. He’s been consistently balancing all my long term concerns with my short term goals. Sometimes those things can be at odds and he’s helped me get to a better place. Extremely helpful human. I have attended many of the groups as well. Not all all of the groups have been helpful but a lot have. I’ve done years of therapy and I kinda like the shotgun approach of here’s dozens of tools, keep the ones you like throw out the ones you don’t want. There’s no way of knowing what’s going to be helpful vs unhelpful other then attending them all and keeping an open mind. I do wish art therapy was an every day thing rather then a here and there thing. I think art therapy should be available to everyone and those that don’t want to do it go to a different group. Just my 2 cents. The therapist that has done art therapy has been doing a fantastic job. I think it creates a unique window into one’s own mind, emotions, and behavior. I wish there was a chaplain available like there is in psychiatric inpatient. Good experience overall.

Thanks a lot, Providence, for contracting with the Center for Medical Imaging in my local area—not only do they NOT accept Tricare insurance and any supplemental insurance related to Tricare, they are, in fact, quite rude about it. It is very inconvenient for me to find imaging (I am currently on my second hour waiting for an x-ray at an approved place) and when I have contacted CMI to discuss my supplemental insurance in hopes that it would assist me in obtaining care, they were quite unhelpful and uncaring. I am also puzzled why I can go to almost any other Providence clinic or facility and obtain care, but no imaging. I would hope that CMI and Providence would value the armed services and those who serve and served…this definitely proves otherwise.
