Sellwood Medical Clinic's Online Review Report Card

Called to add my insurance added for my daughter. The women identifying as female on the phone asked me if Sellwood Medical center is in my network. I said "can't you just check? My daughter has an appointment next week" To which the lady said "no. We don't look at insurance unless it is in our network" I was so confused. Sellwood Medical clinic asked a current customer if Sellwood Medical clinic accepted the customers insurance. So strange... So if anyone needs medical attention I suggest you go here. Since apparently they don't check if your insurance will actually cover the visit. I do appreciate a medical center acting on a "Good Faith Basis". But I am questioning if the doctors are actually accredited at this point

We have been blown away by Sellwood Medical Clinic and their staff. Dr. Pritchard is one of the best most knowledgeable and caring providers I’ve ever encountered. SMC saved our son’s life!

Where do I start? If I could give less than one star to this clinic, I absolutely would. Interesting reading some of the other reviews as I have much of the same experience as others. Was seeing the PA here who I liked and continued to see, even though I'd have to tolerate the front desk and billing staff who are consistently rude. The PA left, and there was no follow up to bring me on caseload with any other provider. I have ongoing health issues that need attention and I have developed a new one in the last year. I finally am able to get an appointment only to be turned away because I was 8 minutes late. I called prior to my arrival AND I had been there once already in the am (because I had the wrong time which as my fault) but the front desk knew this! Now the only reason I had the appointment was due to my daughters pediatrician, who arranged for me to get in after hearing that no one followed up with me after my PA left the practice. In addition I had/have an urgent need to see a PCP. And I take responsibility for the fact that I was late, but I communicated this information. To be turned away, knowing that this clinic had not followed up with me and that I had an urgent health issue. It's appalling to me and would be if this happened to anyone else, not just me. This clinic is more invested in their rules and their billing than they are in patient quality care. Choose wisely.

My entire family has been going here since 2014, we have a long history with Sellwood Medical Clinic both for adult care and pediatric. We still absolutely LOVE the pediatric side and Dr. Pritchard. Our issue now is with the dramatic change happening on the adult care side. I missed my annual exam last year. So I was surprised when I called in to find out they've reduced adult care providers down to 2, and that every doctor I had seen here before, was no longer employed. Including my beloved primary care doctor. I decided to still give their new doctor a chance, considering our long history with SMC. SMC called for new insurance information (my husband just started a new job). I figured out that I'd be paying out of pocket and getting reimbursed at a later time, I shared that with SMC via text. I also woke feeling sick, so I asked for my annual exam to be changed to a wellness sick exam. They asked for my symptoms and responded, "I have spoken to the provider's team and they would like you to reschedule the well appointment today for a time when you are feeling better. They have asked that you go to an urgent care for the symptoms you are experiencing today. I will go ahead and cancel the appt today, okay? I can reschedule you for 2:40 on 12/27. Would that work? Perhaps the insurance would be figured out by then?" Imagine my being confused, that my doctor's office just told me to go some where else. I clarified this by asking, "Just to be clear, the provider and/or their team preferred not seeing me because I am sick. Despite this being a doctors office where you go when you get sick. Correct?" They responded, "No, the providers are happy to see you if you are sick but not for the well check. The issue was the insurance. It would be cash pay for today. We can do a sick visit today at 11:20 if you would like to. You would have to put a card on file for today's appt. Do you want to do that?." To which I responded, "I wrote saying that we would pay out of pocket, I also wrote asking for this to be a wellness sick appointment. Yet you told me to go to urgent care instead. However after calling it out, you're now offering the appointment. Please understand how poorly this looks, as a customer. You can fill the appointment with another patient. Have a good day." To say I'm disappointed is putting it lightly. The last thing I want to do is find a new doctor's office. However, this entire experience has left me with little to no confidence in the staff. They only offered the wellness sick visit, after I called them out. I just read recent reviews since the big changes and it seems there are a lot of us feeling the cold changes. This is not a one off experience; it seems I'm just adding my voice to the chorus. Again, we still love the pediatric side of SMC. This review is strictly for the adult care side.

Absolutely dreadful place. Rude...unprofessional...give zero care for their patients. Run, don't walk away from here.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Pediatricians are average... but the customer service is TERRIBLE. Had an appointment and called to announce that we will be 5 minutes late. They thought putting us hold but we heard the conversation in the background: "This is the last one of the day. I want to go home. Let's cancel them, who cares...". Week later received an invoice for $75 no show. Went to the office (7/28/23) to ask about the invoice, since the appointment was cancelled by them: very rude person said that invoice department will contact us, with no other explanation. But they never called back. Today (7/31/23) we just received a letter saying that they TERMINATE our professional relationship due to "poor appointment history and combative behavior in our office". TERRIBLE Customer Service. TERRIBLE care about their patients. They ONLY care about the money. Don't bring your child there... they seem to be sinking and need every penny before they go out of business...

We arrived at the clinic today for our child's initial pediatric appointment, only to find out that it had been rescheduled. The staff mentioned that they had sent a text notification, but despite thoroughly searching through my text messages and email, we couldn't locate it. Interestingly, when I later accessed my iMessages on the computer and specifically searched for "appointment," the message finally appeared. It turns out they rescheduled our appointment without considering our availability. Regrettably, the new time didn't fit our schedule. Given this experience and the risk of potential miscommunication issues, we have decided to explore alternative options for our child's care.

Great doctors, PA's and staff. Top shelf service. I've been a patient here for many years and receive great attention. Dr Wright is attentive, professional and knowledgeable. I can't see me and Amy family anywhere else.

This place has absolutely gone down hill. Extremely rude staff and horrible bedside manner. Absolutely do not recommend.
