The Portland Clinic's Online Review Report Card

Every employee (from the greeter at the entrance to doctors) with whom I've interacted has been warm, informed, and helpful.One exception, come to think of it. Last year, my regular physical therapist was not working (because of COVID, and the woman who "treated" made my severe pain, from my herniated disc that had enflamed the nerve, unbearable. Set me back for a week. Nightmarish. But I continue to go to the Portland Clinic. But would not go for physical therapy, should the need arise, if he--my regular PT-- was no longer working there.

I've been going to the Portland Clinic for 10 years, but had two back to back experiences that caused me to leave. My gynecologist moved from the downtown location to Beaverton and I decided to follow her there instead of finding a new doctor (there were no other gynecologists at the downtown location, so I'd have to go to a new clinic). It was my first time going out there and I got a little lost. I arrived 3 minutes late and she refused to see me. Apparently each patient is only booked for 15 minutes with her. Even though her next patient had arrived early, she wouldn't let me swap appointments with the next patient and then charged me a missed appointment fee. It felt completely lacking in human connection, and more like an assembly line of patients in and out. Soon after, I saw my primary care doctor downtown for a yearly well visit (which is covered by my insurance). During the visit, I asked to get a new prescription for some allergy medication I had used in the past. She then charged me $45 because apparently asking for a prescription is outside the scope of a yearly visit?! I work downtown and this place was just the most convenient, but I can't stand their predatory billing practices any longer.

WARNING: This institution screens patients with mental illness to turn them away.I saw Yasmin R. Maldonado-Stitt, MD, for one visit to treat my fibromyalgia I’ve had for 8 years. I just moved to the area and needed to establish care. She took one look at my paperwork and said that she only treats patients that are not depressed or anxious (my diagnoses) because that’s “out of her expertise.” She said she only treats patients that don’t have any other health issues (besides the symptoms they’re experiencing for rheumatology) so that she knows how to treat them and cure/fix them (she gave me an example of one of her patients: stay at home mom that doesn’t work and can dedicate all of her time to her health. Obviously is financially well-off. Must be nice.). She said that she cannot help me and that I have to turn to my psychiatrist and primary to get any medications for my fibromyalgia. When I went back to my doctors to communicate this they were shocked, confused, and then immediately compassionate towards me. My psychiatrist immediately apologized for this experience and said that this doctor has a biased towards patients with mental illness. This is something she has seen many times before (she also has an autoimmune disease so she understands) and she encouraged me to keep looking because she knows how crucial it is for me to get rheumatology care. My primary was first speechless and then really confused. He said, “it seems to me she cherry picks her patients.” My response was “ya it must be nice to have a 100% success rate.” He had never experienced this in his 30 years of experience and ensured me he would help me find the next rheumatologist.Be cautious of this institution if you’re struggling with mental illness. This business model is dangerous for those who are most hard hit by the pandemic and extremely dangerous for our community’s health. Our community deserves medical professionals that operate in the highest-integrity of good-faith. I do not recommend Yasmin R. Maldonado-Stitt, MD, or The Portland Clinic.

Staff was extremely friendly, very quick. I’m so used to waiting endlessly in lobbies when I show up in time , but I saw the doctor in almost no time at all. Went right to the labs after again no wait. I had to call to change a prescription and the doctor got back to me that same day. The parking situation isn’t great but hey it’s downtown Portland , I’m not expecting vallet service.

Avoid this clinic if you can. The building isn't a good fit for a medical establishment. Despite the hard work of cleaning staff, it always looks dingy and dirty. The clinic is perpetually swamped. The doctors and staff take themselves way too serious. The quality of care the clinic provides reflects these factors. Susan, the "manager" of the clinic is dishonest and disingenuous. She made up a false story and lied to me over the phone. Do yourself a favor and get better care for your money.

First off this clinic had numerous different specialists, so when you read the reviews keep me posted that in mind and don't write off the whole clinic for one person's experience with one specialist.I was very pleased with Rheumatologist Dr. Maldonado. She was patient and through with me. I ask a lot of questions and have a complicated situation.Also, Administrator Susan was very helpful in dealing with a registration misunderstanding I. She took the extra effort to assist me and make sure my appointment was secure.I only have four stars because the building is have old and dingy inside.

I attempted to get information about the availability of yellow fever vaccine given my planned trip to the Amazon Basin of Brazil. This is noteworthy given the world wide shortage of that vaccine and the fact the U.S. CDC listed The Portland Clinic as one of only three places in Oregon that can provide that service. When I called, the receptionist at the clinic was very unhelpful, apparently agitated and appeared not willing to flush out the issue since I am not an established patient of the clinic. She said I would have to become an established patient before she could answer questions. Speaking with this receptionist was like hitting a brick wall since I was not already in their system. She, however, did offer to schedule an appointment for me to start a process to get established with them but that may or may not have resulted in me getting or not getting the vaccine. I told her that my primary care provider is in Klamath Falls and that it is a 6.5 hour drive for me to get to Portland. Bottom line, if you seek travel vaccines do not go to The Portland Clinic.

Always friendly and I never have to wait very long to see the doctor once I've arrived.

They have always taken care of my Wife and I,

Just called and the earliest available appointment isn't for 3 weeks. How is one supposed to get treatment if it isn't accesible? I realize this problem is widespread, but that doesn't make it acceptable.
