List of Jeffrey Stoessl's Reviews
Let's start this 5-star review, of a genuinely benevolent human being, and expert caregiver, in the proper fashion: Dr. Stoessl is a wonderful rarity in the medical community. He's highly intelligent, friendly, concise, and wields an absolutely astounding 6th sense in the apt execution of his incredibly difficult field. His expertise, and general prowess are beyond commendable. If you're hunting for that, "needle in the haystack", look no further. This IS the right man for the job. I'm grateful for his exceptional service. He's always been a gentleman, and a scholar.
Dr. Stoessl is a very professional physician as well as caring and he is super attentive to my needs each time I've seen him, both in person and virtually. Best doctor I've had in years.
Stoessl is the Best, such a secure feeling this Dr. Has given this 68yr old In the last +20yrs
About the only good rating I can give is that he is punctual because he wants to get in and out and not be bothered. I’ve been a patient for a few years and only stayed because I was scared I could get a worse doctor but after my last appointment I am looking for a new doctor. Almost 2 years ago I went to him after coming from the hospital in pain in my leg that left me barely able to walk. I sat down with him for a total of maybe 5 minutes before he told me I had sciatica, walk it off and lose weight. That was it, a five minute appt and he no longer wanted to be bothered. Fast forward about 3-4 months the pain didn’t go away, my leg was numb, I couldn’t bend my toes and I was still barely able to walk. I went back, again same thing quick appointment he gave me muscle relaxers and sent me on my way. The pain kept progressing and was getting worse in my back and leg, I stopped being able to even drive. I could not sit or stand longer than 5-10 minutes at a time. He referred me to physical therapy who looked at me and the images of my back and said you should of been referred to a surgeon. We will help as much as possible but not being able to bend your toes is concerning. Shocker, physical therapy did not help. I was then referred to a surgeon who looked at my back and found a disc herniation on L5-S1. Keep in mind this almost a year later, I got referred for spinal injections twice with no success. Finally had my first surgery to repair the herniation. I woke up in more pain than before, still not able to bend my toes and extreme leg weakness. It’s now going on almost two years and I just had a spinal fusion on the 31st because an MRI found a spinal fracture and my joint was extremely unstable. Again, I can still not bend my toes, can barely walk and may never be able to walk without a limp or drive again because the doctors are worried there may be permanent damage due to how long I was left untreated. My last appointment with him was the final blow, I just got diagnosed Type 2 diabetic. The hospital staff recommended insulin and so I reached out to him to be told “I don’t know what to tell you, your numbers aren’t life threatening stop eating whatever junk you’re eating”. 5 minute conversation and he told me to take glipizide 2x a daily. I had an appt yesterday with an endocrinologist who wants me off the glipizide immediately because the medication is used to increase the amount of insulin being produced in the body and increases weight gain. My numbers run high, not low so why would I need more insulin to be produced? This doctor is clearly burnt out and honestly does not care about his patients. The sad part is his lack of care may be the reason why I’m never able to able walk without a limp or for moments at a time.
Listens and explains things carefully. Not afraid to refer if necessary. My time with him is usually close to the appointment time.
Terrible visit. He was in the room for 7 minutes, I clocked him. What a miserable excuse for a health care provider. Two days later I was called by another office to schedule me for an appointment that he never mentioned. How could he if he was only in the room for 7 minutes.
Dr Stoessl is the BEST. Very easy to talk to, and don’t have to be afraid of what I say. He listens and makes things happen. And I am very happy with all of his decisions. I have been with him for years and I am 62 years old and still going strong. He takes good care of me. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MD Jeffrey Stoessl.
This review is for my first and only visit with Dr. Jeffrey Stress. I know times are stressful during this time of Covid-19 and the time Dr. Stress was in my room was very brief. This was also my first experience at the Salem health clinic. Please keep those two things in mind. That being said I am giving him 2 stars rather then 1 star. Here was my brief experience with this Doctor. I tend to read reviews and research everything I can before buying a large item or choosing a new DR. I read reviews on multiple websites including this one before choosing my primary care doctor. Due to Covid-19 it took me 15 minutes to park and enter the building. So I was few minutes late when I finally was inside the exam room. I had injured my knee and a few days prior went to a different urgent care. I was prescribed two medicines, one for pain and one for the muscles in my knee/leg to relax. Each prescription being 10 pills and 12 pills respectfully. The DR in the urgent care could tell I was in pain and I had tears in my eyes from walking into the urgent care. I went to see Dr. Stress since he was my primary care physician. I told him about my knee hurting and about my urgent care visit a few days prior as well as had the papers giving to me with the medication listed in them. The Urgent care DR sent me for an x-ray, but also said I could wait to see my normal DR and have him send me for one. I also told Dr. Stress about the knee brace the Urgent Care DR gave me. Dr. Stress did not want to send me or an x-ray and seemed irritated about everything the urgent care DR said and did expect for the fact the urgent care DR gave me a shot of Dr. Stress told me that an X-ray was not necessary, that I did not need pain killers even if the pain kept me awake at night, that I should not wear a knee brace or take the muscle relaxers the other DR prescribed. Please keep in mind I did not ask him for additional pain killers or muscle relaxers. All I asked was to be sent for an x-ray. I then asked him what I should do, and he told me to "Just walk it off". He then abruptly left the exam room. I did not have a chance to ask if he felt I needed to be prescribed blood pressure medication, since this time and the last few times I have been at a DR's office my blood pressure was higher than 160/90. So I ask the nurse about it who said she would go ask the dr. She leaves to ask him and says thatches review is for my first and only visit with Dr. Jeffrey Stress. Dr. Stress said Toradol is a great drug, and he would send the nurse in to give me a shot of it before I left the exam room. I have been to see a DR for a work injury and a nurse who reviews my Workman's comp case has asked me about my high blood pressure. So I ask the nurse about my high blood pressure and that I have a family history of high blood pressure. She said she would talk to the DR. She then returns that Dr. Stress said for me to come back in a week and if my blood pressure is still high he might prescribe me some medication. The nurse then gives me the shot of Toradol and I leave. I have since chosen to change my primary care DR and to stay with Salem Clinic. I really wish Dr. Stress took more time to listen to me and not treat me like I am a drug addict or that I just wanted pain killers. Please keep in mind I normally do not write bad reviews and I have nothing in my chart about abusing any medication. I feel Dr. Stress did not listen to my needs and I gained nothing from my visit. Thank you for reading my review.
Very Excellent
I've been seeing Dr. Stoessl for over 20 years. He is alway professional, friendly, kind, and provides excellent medical care for me. One of his best qualities is that he listens. We have not always agreed on everything, however, he has actually taken the time to look up or investigate our differences, and got back to me regarding his take based on what he learned. I am always impressed by his knowledge and willingness to learn.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
