List of Karissa Carstensen Md's Reviews
Dr. Carstensens misdiagnosis led us to an emergency room trip for my 3 year old daughter. Her bedside manner was extremely poor. I actually heard her tell the medical assistant on the way out of the room, "good luck with that!" The medical assistant had to do a flu swab on my daughter, which I am sure isn't fun for either the patient or person performing the nose swab. I had to call hours later to get the results of the flu swab, which I was told I would have in about 20 minutes. I was told that my daughter had some type of virus and would go away with time..... She actually had a horrible UTI. The ER doc was also questioning why the UTI test wasn't done earlier when I took her into Dr. Cartensen. Needless to say, my children will not been seen by Dr. Cartensen again.
I was disappointed in Dr.Carstensen I was concerned about my son I tried to explain this to her but she just kept repeating what she was saying luckily I was able to see a two different doctor's and they confirmed that my son did indeed need surgery. I don't know what she was thinking it wasn't only that she misdiagnosed him but that she was completely unprofessional with me on the phone and to the state still hasn't returned my phone calls and she's supposed to be my son's primary doctor.
She is very fun and outgoing however appears very new in her field. Although she seemed a bit scattered, She did take the time to answer all of my questions. I like that she takes the time to get to know child/children and parent. I knocked off a couple stars because when checking my child's mouth for teeth she washed her hands; however, she did not wear gloves to do this and her assistant appeared to have very little medical knowledge, experience, or training.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
